Raced an RSX-S yesterday

I was suprised that he didn't hang with me. We rolled off the light in 1st and I look over and see/hear him hammer it, so I do the same. I heard him chirp 2nd, as I did the same but I really started to pull on him. By the top of 2nd, I had over a car and shut her down. At the next light he gave me a nod and turned off.

Nice. I have yet to encounter one on the streets.

BTW, your track times sound like mine, my best stock, was a 15.3 with a 2.3 60' are you stick? please say yes. I think our RE92s are just too crappy to get good 60' times.

good kill
(just out of curiosity) are you sure its RSX type S??
cuz I raced with my friend's RSX-s from 5mph-80mph, I only had about a car length on him. At that time, he had intake & exhaust, and I was bone stock with a more person & around 100lbs of stereo equipment

It was silver, and had RSX-S (the s was red), and this guy was too old to have just put the S on there to be cool. Who knows maybe the guy didn't rev it out and short shifted.

It's strange. In many (NOT ALL!) cases, the magazine times listed for cars made by Acura/Honda and Lexus are really tough to duplicate at the track. On last generation Integra GS-Rs, I believe benchmark mag times were around 15.0 to 15.5 at 91mph. But at the track I have yet to see a stocker (or one with just intake and exhaust mods) run that. Most I've seen fell in the 15.7 to 16.4 range at 88-90mph. So if mags are getting 14.7 to low 15s at 92 to 94 mph on a new RSX-S, the thing may very well run low to mid-15s at 90-92 mph for a non mag driver and production example.

I ran a type s at Englishtown; he had an accord intake, and im intaked. He ran a 15.1 to my 15.7. I hung with him, but he still beat me.

i was the one raced tapwr3000's '02 max.
he was bone stock +sound system...
i had injen sri and a none cat-back for show only muffler and a system..
he had me for a car length or less (5mph-80mph)..
and back then i was no real expert in driving manual..
unless you want to say your 2000 max beat '02 max then you will have one car length in front of a RSX-s by the top of 2nd gear (0-60mph)..
so it was either a base with a +40hp type-s sticker mod or he was not racing

anyway... a kill is a kill..

oops.. so you said the guy is too old to just put the s for show off.
i guess he was driving his son's car..

oh i read your post again... sounds like he was racing you.. dang.. he must can not drive... what a disgrace.. cuz i have seen many time slips at high 14sec and low 15sec with majority at low 15sec..
that was a bad example of what a type-s can do..

i started posting messages clubrsx, now i go to many car forums to talk about cars..
i am not here to start a flame war or just to troll around..

but you do have to realize that different people drive differently, you beat one car doesn't mean you beat them all.. in a manual car, a bad driver can mean +2sec or even +3sec in 0-60mph.. i used to drive 9-10sec 0-60mph with my type-s, but now i stay in the 6 sec range easily..

i believe most of us knows car fairly well.. and we all should know what your car and our car can do.. unless your
2001 or earlier max is in the 5 sec range.. then it's all depend on the driver (stock vs stock).. cuz this is no AMG SLK32 vs type-s.. dont be skeptical...

however if you can beat your friend's rsx-s, that is good for you..

So, whats Your best 1/4 so far? For some reason when the rsx-s was being released I was expecting a low 14sec car. o-well, cant win em all.

Hey your RSX looks nice. Maybe because we raced from a roll in first is why I beat him?? Do your cars have good low end TQ? That is where I gained the most the fastest.

I think I am going to the track this thursday. I have to get a better time than I have in my sig.

Oh man, Thursday night at Firebird is sooooo tempting.

I would like to go, but I'm leaving town Friday AM.

I also need to better my BEST et now that it's not 85+ degrees out.

thanx for the complement.

you asked ""Maybe because we raced from a roll in first is why I beat him??"" dunno.. you beat the old dude and that is a kill for you, no need to find reasons to justify your answer

and no.. the engine does not have that good of low end torque.. but decent enuf to pull the little car, and it's acutally quite good for a inline4.

i looked at your sig.. if you can get your 1/4 down to 15 flat or under.. most of the rsx-s you encounter, you will give them hard time.. b/c thx to acura, with the stock tires, the car is pain in the butt to lauch..

what do you mean you were EXPECTING a low 14 sec?...
please do not get into money vs acceleration issue..
cuz very soon this thread will turn into a flame war.
for 23k.. a high 14 /15 flat car is good..
if you think like that wouldn't you expect a flat 14 for cars over 30k? there are some rival cars of ours that cost more but runs only couple tenth sec faster. it's all about your need.. if you want to buy a cheap and yet fast car... i suggest you slap a turnbo in or go to subaru dealer... talking about punch per buck, wrx is the one hard to beat.. but would you want to get one?... heck no for me.. just look at the interior turned me down..
that is why when wrx owners get cocky, i do not really care.. cuz if you can own a max or rsx-s.. you can afford a wrx too..

i admit that i was being defensive.
but i said what i said because that was what i "thought" about what you said.
i've seen that icon before.. but i always thought it's a whimpie guy trying very hard to lift some dumbells. after looking at your post couple times.. i realize it's something like
so yes, i thought you were attacking me..

i did made a fool outta myself. and of course i am not here to make enemy too, so i posted this messaage to apologize to you. sorry dude, but that was truely what i think about max owners who are cocky.
after you read it.. i will retract my last post.

btw.. i have yet to have a track 1/4 mile slip..
raced on street couple times with my car, but got busted for illegal racing.. so, goin to the track very soon..

I can see why you misunderstood my post the smilie does kinda look like its tryin to lift weights. but its actually a smilie doin a shoulder shrug as to say " I dont know or got me". I accept your apology. you didnt make a fool of your self at all. its very understandable to stick up for your self when someone is flaming you.
keep postin on the org, we like to hear more than just maxima owners. thanks for the apology......Later, Will.
