Clean the throttle body - no results?????

I cleaned up my throttle body - not quite as hard as the fuel filter - but i don't notice a huge difference the way lots of people on here have mentioned. what should i be noticing from a cleaner throttle body? it was dirty, no doubt, and i removed a nice layer of junk from the surface of the throttle body, but no huge difference performancewise. Also, the instructions on the bottle as well as the motorvate page said to clean the throttle body with the engine off, and that's what i did. But others on .org said to do it with the engine running, in much the same way you clean out a carbeurator. Should i have done that?

thanks...

I had my car running

I followed the instructions on the container and they said to keep the car running. Now, if I was inside the TB with a cloth wiping it down or something i would turn it off. I would not want anything to get sucked in.

You won't notice much if it wasn't that dirty. But if you are like me and you look in there and all you see is black, then it is dirty. I plan to do this clean up sometime today or tomorrow. I will let you know how mine goes.
