Piaa = Poop

I bought PIAA Xtreme white H4s in November and already one has gone out (low beam only). Options Auto will take it back, ship it to PIAA, and PIAA will ship them a new one and then Options will ship it to me. Turn around will be 3+ weeks. No mishandling, perfect install, not my fault!!. I remember reading lots of posts about people's misfortunes with PIAA and was hoping it didn't happen to me...but it did. As soon as the warranty runs out on my bulbs I'm definitely not buying PIAA again.

Anyone compared PIAAs with Philips Blue Visions? They're much cheaper and hopefully more durable.

Re: Piaa = Poop

I have PIAAs all around.....I have superplasma and ionic yellow for fog lights....I have had them since Jan, 2k1......They are still working fine. I wonder does it happen to xtreme white only? How well did you handle it? I remember that I was wearing gloves during installation to avoid oil contact.

nope, doesnt look like lexus at all....it look a bit greenish. Not too bad, IMO...but not as yellowish as lexus's. If u want to get the lexus yellow, u have to apply a yellow film into ur fog lights....I think some members here did it before.

I have the Superplasma's and they blew out twice on me. I did a perfect install both times. I even wiped with alcohol. PIAA sucks @ss! I got them replaced for free twice and will continue to do so!

I used cotton swabs with rubbing alcohol and cleaned them off before I put them in. Absolutely no skin contact whatsoever when I put them in & no jarring or bumping. I was very careful.

I have the PIAA ion yellow fog lights as well. I love them! I just hope they last longer than the Xtremes.

The thing I really like about the ions is that they change colors the closer you get to them and depending on the angle. White, greenish, yellow, blue...it depends on where you're looking at them from.

Thanks for the heads up on these. I could buy 3 pair of these bulbs for the cost of one pair of the PIAAs. Guess it couldn't hurt to give them a try.

PIAA charges way too much for there product to have so many problems. I work @ a place where we used to sell PIAA but have recently stopped because of all the problems.

Piaa = Poop

Agreed!

If you pay that price, they should last.

Plus they don't even meet the light output to be legal.
Stock lights put out more light! (but they sure are pretty)

The Eaglites rock! They are a little more blueish to oncomming traffic compared with the PIAAs, not not objectionable. The box said for off-road use only, but I don't see how they're any different than all the new cars with HID lights. Those stand out much more than the Eaglites. I haven't got flashed from any oncoming cars yet.

As far as visibility goes they out-perform the PIAAs as well. I can see that the bulbs are painted-on blue as compared with the PIAAs which are blue-tinted. But I can see better at night, what else matters?

I hope they last longer than the PIAAs, but even if they don't, how can you go wrong for $15/pair compared to $50/pair for the PIAAs.

Tony, for the best H4s >>

Go here...

They are worth the wait. I don't know how long those Eaglites will last you, but with the VisionPluses, you will be backed by Philip's quality.

yes they suck

PIAA is garbage.
I had the SuperWhite Platinums (or something along those lines)...
Luckily i'm friends w/ the shop owner so he exchanged them for me immediately everytime one blew...
After getting sick of blowing one every few weeks I finally just said forget it and put in the stocks...
I went thru 4 sets of PIAAs in about 6 months!
GARBAGE!

And NO i did not touch the bulbs.

Yeah, I noticed that they are painted-on blue. I might buy the Maxlite H-3 fog bulbs next time. For now I'm happy. The 9005 Eaglites are awesome! Ha, that's what I thought, for $15/pair no biggie, even if they die early.

Tony, time to change your sig, man!...

That's a good question. For your sake, I hope so. Hopefully they don't have to send them off to PIAA like I had to do with mine.

Tony your car looks sweet! I luv the AE kit! I'm going to see if I can get some pricing on it - at least the rear valence. I don't think the fron piece will mount on my 2k2... could be wrong.

Thanks! Yeah, I think you're right...I've heard the front valence doesn't fit the 2K2s.
