I was just wondering how difficult it would be to put a shift gate on a maxima. Like to replace the boot and seperate the gears. Just for looks of course. Also does anyone know of any good pedal replacements.

 

man i didnt think anyone else wanted to do that, i been thinkin of just making a custom one from a slab, i think it would look sweet, just not sure if our seperations are wide enuff considering our stick is so fat

 

What do you mean seperate the gears? I never heard of this and just trying to figure out waht you mean. Maybe I just have seen it but never knew the name.

if were talkin bout the same thing, i think he means like what ferrari and lambhorghini(spelled wrong), do where there are slots for the shift lever to fit in opposed to just having a bag

 

wow i thought i was the only one with this idea. I think it would look really good if you add a short shifter that’s chrome, and add the aluminum kit and make your own shift gate to match the kit. Or maybe carbon fiber.

 

wow, i am surprised to see such a response to this idea. Yes, to answer someone elses question, I am talking about how ferrari has the slots for each gear that the stick slides in between. I just didn't know how to describe it. i don't have a maxima yet, I am still waiting on an insurance check, but this might be something to look into. I wonder how hard it would be to take one from another car, and custom fit it.

 

I have been wanting to do this ever since i got my car, I have always loved Ferrari and always will, and it's spelled lamborghini but if we could talk some machine shop into making one, i would be all for it, but only if it fit the STS

 

Wow guys, I never even thought of that! Hell yeah that's a really cool idea! Maybe the guy that does the battery tie-down bar thing can make these too (in polished aluminum or chrome plated, maybe?)...

yea i liove it, for the last 2 months i been trying to find a shop that would machine it for me if i gave them all the specs of my horizontal and vertical throws, its definlty possible

I bet for people who had the aluminum dash kit installed and like it that the silver or aluminum shift gate would look real nice. Kid of get a total package for the looks. Maybe those aluminum door inserts on custimmaxima.com too.

I bet it would look really good with a layer of carbon fiber over the alluminum, so that you could still see alluminum around the edges.
