Replacing Gauge cluster

Can you replace the black gauge cluster on a 99 GLE with a white gauge 98 SE? If so, is it hard to do?

nah, it's not too difficult. all you have to do is remove your gauge cluster. there should only be, i think, 4 screws holding it in. once you have the cluster completely out, you need to remove all the little light bulbs from the back side. with bulbs removed, you can now take out the little screws from the backside. there's a few of these, so make sure to get em all. ...you know, that's about all i can pull from memory right now, but just get the cluster out and take out all the screws. it should come right apart. oh yeah! the clear cover might need to come off. if it does, just depress all the tabs. they break easy, so BE CAREFUL!!

good luck!

Re: Replacing Gauge Cluster

Are you talking about just replacing the gauge faces? If so, they cannot be removed or swapped unless you take the needles off. If you are talking about just swapping the whole cluster, then that can be done, except that you'll run in the problem of the mileage differential between the two.
