I don't normally race people. But this guy was just asking for it. From a stop (light) two lanes, beyond the light they merge into one in about a 100 feet or so. This is a very large intersection (light rail crosses perdicular to us). I'm in the right hand (non-merging) lane. He starts creeping up before the light. Light goes green and I stomp it. Other side of the intersection I chirp the tires going into 2nd. I look left and see he's a half a car behind me. Merge is coming up and I continue to floor/shift. He drops back and gets behind me, tailgating me the whole way. I have to slow up as we're coming into traffic (prior to that it was pretty much open). Next light I have to go left. He pulls alongside and was very unhappy. I guess he was unhappy that his 8 cylinder couldn't shut me down. I felt a little ridiculous (I'm too old for this) but then I felt a little angry at him. I had the right of way and the jerk is unhappy that he can't blow past me. Anyways, it felt good to push the 02SE. Granted he's got an auto and about 500lbs more than me, but he does have an 8 with about 20 more HP and 30 more torque. A friend of mine has the 430E and its a very quick car.

 

As a past Benz owner, I used to have a 400 E, kind of like the new E 430, those cars are damn quick, after 90-100 he should be beating us, I was beating so many sports cars with it, all I had was a drop and suspension, those cars are a dream after 100, they speed up like going from 20-40, I woulda bought another one but it's too much money, Maxima is a good replacement though.
