Strange interior water leak -- Help.

The rear passenger side floor in my Max gets wet whenever there is heavy rain (every other day lately ) It is not comming from the window or door as far as I can tell. I have been in the car during heavy rain and through the touchless car wash and saw no leaks.

The strange part is the rug seems to be getting wet from the bottom. The floor mat does not get wet, just the carpet underneath. Stranger still the floor will get wet even when the car is parked, if it were some sort of leak from underneath I would think the car would have to be moving to splash water against the underbody.

Any ideas?

When I saw the post, I thought it might be a faulty HVAC unit (which, when they fail will leak into the passenger front foot well...BUT, given its in the back...I know that I have heating vents under the front two seats -- maybe the passenger side is leaking? unlikely...I doubt there are hoses down there..maybe a puncture underneath?

Forgot to mention, as far as I know the car has never been in an accident. I put the car on ramps today and crawled under, I could see no obvious places that might be leaking.

Check to see if it's the heator core. Look for a wet carpet in the front pass side.

BTW: I think HVAC is a commerical building heating/ac reference. LOL
