My ABS light won't go out!!!!
Hey Guys. I have a 97 Max SE now w/ a 5 speed. Had a minor fender bender and had the car fixed. It looks great! The only problem is that my ABS light stays on now all the time. How do I reset it? Thanks guys, have a great day!
Any number of components in the ABS system could have been affected by the accident.
Start with a visual inspection (for damage) of the system:
Jack up the car, put on jackstands, remove the wheels & check out the ABS sensors mounted in back of the hubs, the toothed "rings" that rotate under the sensors (mounted on the backside of the hubs), the condition of the ABS pump in the engine bay, connections in the wiring, hard brake plumbing, etc.
(Your car has been through a trauma - lots of things can get jarred around in a solid impact & cause things to operate improperly)
Can you describe in detail the extent of the damage to your car? Was it all cosmetic, or was there any structural/mechanical damage?
-And, have you tried to get the ABS to engage in a controlled panic braking situation? (If you have already, it could be good from an information standpoint - if you haven't, I wouldn't recommend it while the ABS warning light is on). Also, are there any other strange behaviors coming from the brakes?
Good luck.

There is hope yet, Luke
Do a search... Daniel B. Martin helped me with this once. You have to reset the ECU. Some procedure with pressing the door switch rapidly a few times. Worked like a charm for me. If it doesn't, then there's something amiss and you'll have to have it looked at.
