This guys sure had guts! (Rant 'n moan)

Forgive me for this moaning thread but i can't help myself. Need some outlet.

Ok. here goes:

I was walking towards my car after getting some groceries when i notice this old delapidated car (all rusted, 70's american car-like) parked especially close to my passenger side.

As i habitually do, i checked my car for any door dings and i found one right in the direction of where the other cars door would hit. I didn't make much of it given i can't prove it.

So i continued putting the groceries in my trunk when the cars owner came by and opened his door. Slamming right into my side! I was shocked he even had guts to do so with me just 4 feet away from him!

I called out, "Hey!". He didn't respond. Just proceeded to get in his car.

I was *issed. So as he backed out i rechecked and to my dismay, a bigger (paint stripped) gnash on the "ding guard".

So *issed and now somehow furious i walked towards the road with the grocery cart beside me and slooowwwlllyyy walked in front of him so he couldn't pass. (what's he gonna do now? hit me in front of a dozen witnesses?).

Finally i let him pass and shouted to him "Next time watch where you hit your rust bucket".

Know what he did? He just smiled back!

I know i should have confronted him then and there but i just didn't think it'd be worth it.

Thanks for lending an ear (or an eye).

yeah, well have you ever had to deal with an older Korean woman(i'm Korean by the way). I was in my dad's car waiting for someone inside a store. This lady parked next to me, flung her door open and hit my dad's car. Naturally, i wasn't happy. Well, i decided to let her get in her car and drive away, but while trying to get in her car all i here is bang, bang, bang...she can't get in her car without bump my dad's car at least three more times, so i'm like WTF, and get and inspect and she rolls her window down(in an old Korean voice), i didn't do anything...i was like riiiight...anyway, sorry bout hearing about your max and thanks for letting me vent a little

Thanks for hearing me out. (And for venting out as well Gotrice4).

I know i should've done something, but what? I've been known to be a silent dragon in more ways than one. Not until i really need to get into some action that i actually do. (And it has to be a very good reason to do so). Btw, i'm asian as well.

And oh, btw, i was parked beside the handicap zone... knowing that area there's hardly anyone that parks there. I also had a good 4-5 feet between my passenger side and what would normally have been the next responsible driver.

But this guy is parked diagonally ... sort of a |\ position with his front door just a foot away from my back door and his front bumper inches away from my front door/fender.

Btw, i found out earlier this morning that the guy seems to live pretty close to where i live... so i might have to walk his way and settle this.

I'd say like someone said earlier, park where lazy people wouldn't park which is far away form the stores. Everyone wants a spot close to the entrance so I stay away from them.

Damn straight. I get people who roll their eyes at me when I park 4-5 spots away from everyone, but I don't see any door dings in my car.

Park far enough so you can barely see the place where you are going...I rather park a mile away than to have some idiot hit my baby..

about parking far away...

i'd love to do that, but given where i was at that point the only "far" place i could park w/o any cars was *in* the park... couple of miles away.

sort of a damed if you do, damned if you don't situation.

I usually park close by if I have passengers with me. Wouldn't want mom and dad to walk blocks. When I have ladies with me I park close too, just to be gentlemanly.

Often I park far away, but still you get people park right beside you. That's so much you can do.

plate number. All you have to do is get the plate number, then call the police and say you physically saw the person damage your car. Report the incedent. The police will help you. I don't know where you live, but the whole process is much easier in a smaller city/town.

Bro, you should have done something when it happenned but your obviously not that type of person so just drop it. You will end up getting into alot more trouble trying to go after him after the fact than if u would have just rolled yur cart into his hood @ the supermarket.

Let it be and take this as a lesson.Always carry a bat and a PBA card.

You're right (well, maybe not about the bat ). I'm really sorry to hear about your car, and I probably would've done the same thing you did, but...

Once you let him leave and then you leave there's very little you can do. If you can't get him to stay there in the future the best thing to do is take his plate and either call the police on your cell or go straight home and call the police. Probably helps if you can get someone else who saw it happen back you up.

Of course, even better would be to not let the guy leave at all and force him to pay for the damage.

Unfortunately there are so many prople out there who have absolutely no respect for other people, or even worse do sh*t like that purposely.. You'd like to smack each and every one of them upside the head, but that'd keep you busy for a while - and dirtbags like that ain't worth it anyway.. Although a well-placed loogie (on his windshield) would have been funny enough....

Yep, these idiots make me so mad! I agree, I would like to smack them upside the head or worse.

Sounds like this guy did it on purpose.
That the guy smiled makes me even more pi$$ed...

I would have accidentally let the shopping cart slip out of my hands at a high speed and slam into his car... oooops, sorry.

I know you said the car was old. How about the driver? Maybe he is deaf and thought you were being friendly and saying "Hello".

Come on, it was a old 70's POS, the dude's not going to care. Plus, he could be bigger and sit on you or worse, be carrying.

people are nuts, it ain't worth it for a door ding. and as far as parking away goes, aren't you just asking for someone to screw with your ride since nobody is around?

my car has it's share of minor dings and scratches. It sucks, but I just expect a certain amount.

sorry to hear your ride was violated

He doesn't have to care, but he does have to pay (or at the very least offer a nice apology). Accidental dings and scratches happen, yeah, but this guy was clearly being malicious. You don't let someone like that **** with you and walk all over you - even if he is bigger. And what's he going to do? Shoot you in the middle of the parking lot?

I don't know. I can understand that sometimes it's hard to stand up to someone who's big, but it's not right to rationalize that and come up with reasons not to deal with it. Especially since dings and scratches can be expensive to repair.
