Exactly.

If I cared what some people thought about my "slow, 4-cylinder, mid 16 second sedan" ride I wouldn't own it anymore.

Re: what 3 series drivers think about us...

...perhaps they feel this way because they've spent twice as much $$$ for a car that has less interior room, less torque and costs way more to insure and repair. For 10% of the price difference, anyone with a Maxima could get their suspension modified so it could out-handle anything this side of an M5.

Is it just a rumour, or are turn signals optional on BMW's?

Well said. The funny thing is that you would think that preppy BMW owners would have something better to talk about than being jealous of a car that costs 1/2 as much. I guess Grey Poupon and Polo matches were all talked out.

Well, and it's not even REAL BMW owners - it's 3 series owners. Heh, you can pick one of those up for the same price as a GLE!

suck

BMW drivers are some of the biggest *******s on the road anyway. The cars are very overrated. They're over-priced, expensive to maintain and drive, and not that reliable. A friend of my mother bought a manual 325i convertible 6 months ago and had nothing but trouble with it. The door handle actually came off in her hand one time when she was opening the door! She finally got so sick of the constant car problems and a rude dealership that she sold it off on someone else and bought a 4 cylinder Camry auto

I have an idea. If those those BMW owners agree to give me their cars I'll stop "pretending I drive a real car". Until then, I guess they'll just have to deal.

This is what I was thinking too. I've driven my uncle's 330i. It was a nice car and all, but nothing to write home about. If I was choosing between it and a brand new Maxima I'd probably still go with the Maxima.

Looks like those 3-series guys are smugly trying to define some kind of automotive hierarchy. It's as if Maxima drivers, which by their definition rank lower on the Totem pole, should not be passing them, the elite BMW pilots among us. Perhpas it would be more seemly if we gently applied our brakes and smoothly fell in behind them. Afterall, since we cannot afford a 540, we need to conserve gasoline in earnest.

It kinda sounds like us talking about Hon-duh drivers!

Like they should talk. These a-holes with luxury cars think they can do whatever they want. They cut right into traffic like they own the f'n road and look at you like its you fault for being in the way! I feel so great when I waste some little jack off in a Beemer with my Max!

Man guys, why all the hate and flames? Some of the BMW guys said that the MAX was faster and better. And besides, we make fun of civics and what not, they must feel the same about MAX owners. I believe that all guys into cars have a very firm common ground. We should be able to connect to other people through this. I love cars and I just think no one really has the right to judge another guys ride. Just my 2 cents. Ok, I'm ready for all the comments, bring it on...Peace out guys

First of all let me say...yes they are right about Max's being faster and better. But also you need to understand....car enthusiasm is a common battleground. Everyone will always stick by their car and knock all others who oppose. It's a fact of life. And you have to be willing to do the same, and if not....then get off the band wagon..

Dang... kinda harsh I don't think I could get off the band wagon. As I said I love cars. Does everyone here think that people with rival car makes can't get along? Its like life, I mean if we didn't have diversity, life really would be boring. I know it sounds cheezy, but I think that it is possible for people to connect on just the fact that they both appreciate their own cars. This also doesn't mean I don't have pride in my car, because I really do. Peace.

Well think of it like this. Take an american and a Taliban, put them together without either knowing the others past. Sure its possible that they could get along just on the fact that they both love their countries.....but if they ever found out the others original destination.....there would be quite a fight. Sure its an extreme dramatization but it goes along the same aspects. But I'm not saying knock them BeeEMdubya owners for their "love" of cars...just the fact that they are knocking us....

I know many people that have e46's, and trust me, they always have small annoying problems. But I think they look better than a Max, so I would get one

BMW owners

I have respect for other drivers if they have respect for me. If it is some punk or old ***** in his BMW that thinks he is all high and mighty b/c of the badge on his car then I say yeah screw them. They were a lemming and bought a car b/c of who it is made by and how much they spent (their self worth and image reflects that). I spent $10,000 more on a car that can be outdone by an IS300, but I am still better b/c it is a BMW. Come on, these things are a dime a doze and there isn't anything special about them.

We know that there will be other cars that are better, faster, and handle better. The reason why there is such hatred towards BMW is that their car aren't all that special and they have the arrogance to act like it does. I have meet some really cool BMW owners who didn't let the badge on the front of their cars define who they were, it was just a car to them and they enjoyed it. Few BMW owners think that their car it wasn't meant to give them the right to have a snobby attitude to everyone else, it's just a car that they like and nothing more. This is a stark contrast to what most of the BMW feel or show.

I have driven some nice cars (Jag XJR, Viper roadster, Viper GTS Coupe, Porsche, Ferrari), but my attitude while driving it didn't change nor did I think that I was better than everyone else. I may have felt that, but I didn't flaunt it. I just enjoyed driving the car.

Let's really look at this, a 3-Series is a poor man's BMW. Really you can't compare the 2 cars. Those cars are there for BMW owners who want a 5 series but can't afford it. If yall hate BMW owners, that means you are going to hate me because when I get mine, it's on. Work long and hard for it.

3 Series - Save your money
5 Series -
7 Series -
M Series - OMG

BMW

The attitude of the driver is what makes all the difference not your brand. If you act high and mighty when you are not you will be hated by some. If you are just as fun loving as a BMW owner as you were a Maxima owner, things will be as they always have been.

Too much love in this thread.
What's the point of arguing? What are you all trying to prove? If you don't like something just ignore it, very simple.

Why do you guys care so much? This isn't the first time negative stuff has been posted on the Bimmer forums. A couple of years back, there was a huge flame war between the forums. Then there was one with Mustangs, and the list goes on. Some people here are just hypocrites. You can't take it when someone else disses the "god's gift to the car world" Maxima, but you trash Civics, Accords, Preludes, Mustangs, Camrys... How can you actually believe that what they're doing is any different than what you're doing. Driving a Maxima doesn't make you right. Everyone loves their cars. It's like there's an inferiority complex going around or something.

BTW, I didn't see anything on there I found remotely offensive. The Maxima guys were saying nastier things than the BMW guys.
