99 5 speed transmission for 500 dollars w/ 1yr warranty!!!!

ok, i go to these junkyards in my area and find a 99 5 speed transmission for 500 dollars with a one year warranty!!! The thing is that it wasn't in the car..he had it seperate, he didn't know what mileage it had off hand and he was a little reluctant to tell me saying that it didn't matter because it had a one year warranty. I have a 95 maxima and some people tell me that all 4th gen transmissions are the same. If this is the case, i am willing to get it but i'm concerned something is either wrong with it or the mileage is like crazy high...then again it is from a 99 maxima so it shouldn't be THAT much. Anyway, what do you guys think? He threw that price at me quick...i reawlly want to do it and it DOES have a warranty...couple of nice guys...didn't look like they would con me but dam...sounds too good to be true...what do you guys think? should i go for it?

thanks in advance

Try getting the vin off of the tranny and see if a carfax report shows the mileage.

where would the vin # be located? I feel kind of awkward though. He's trying to give me a good price and i'm here inspecting it like i don't trust him which is true, but i hate doing stuff like that...i have no choice anyway right...well, next time i see him...where is the vin# located?

I believe it is a small plate attached to the top part of the tranny somewhere on the side facing the driver.
