Idle RPM

Just curious what are your Max's idleing at mine is at around 700 most the time but sometimes it idles at like 1000 or even 1500 it's really weird cause if I put it in neutral and blip the throttle when it's at 1500 the idle will drop down to around 700 what's causing this? I have a 95' Auto SE

Try cleaning your throttle body.

what you just described is normal..........700 is my idle.......sumtimes the RPM goes crazy if u fool around with the steering wheel or sumthing, but cleaning your throttle body, as sudz mentioned above wont hurt

Assuming you're not running your A/C or turning the steering wheel the rpms should be somewhere around 700 or so after the engine has warmed up. Even if it's hot outside your idle may still be high for a few minutes after start up. If your idle never goes down I would check your IACV (Idle air control valve) and there is one, maybe two, solenoid(s) that will bump up your idle for steering or A/C maybe one of these is stuck or dirty? You haven't tightened your throttle cable have you?
