1156 Bulb in Side Marker Burns Socket..

To all the people who put a 1156 Bulb by shaving off one of the nibs in the side marker lamp, does this setup burn the plastic lamp or bulb socket/bulb? i'm asking because i recently set my car up like that and the side marker becomes really hot when the lights are on. Thanks in advance.

I have been using an 1156 bulb in my Clearance light for over a year now. Haven't had any trouble.
