Increased MPG with Mobil one

I just changed my own oil for the first time last week. After help from other users on this board I did it without a hitch. I used mobil 1 to replace my regular dino oil. Now my MPG is 24-25 up from 20-22. My driving pattern is the same as is has always been. I'm driving a 97 Maxima GLE. The car seems to drive the same. Has anyone else seen any such impovement in MPG? I'm using Premium gas from Costco by the way.

Are you sure someone didn't install a Tornado-air vortex generator while you weren't looking

That sounds about right. Synthetic oils flow a whole lot more freely than regular dino oil. If you rev your car in neutral, it should also feel more lively than before. Thanks to synthetics

I think it's got more to do with something similiar to how my car feels at least 20hp stronger after a good wash and wax job... Smoother, less air resistance you know.. hehe

But there might be a slight increase in mpg due to synthetic, but nothing you'd ever notice or be able to measure. Esp. if you are using the same viscosity...

When I switched to synthetic, I did not notice any mileage difference. But I guess if your old oil was REALLY old, it might have become goopy as it wore down. Then an oil change will increase fuel economy.
