fuel pump replaced due to bad fuel in the tank...
it took the dealer 5 whole days to diagnose and replace the fuel pump. at first we all thought it was the brand new JWT pop charger i installed. it turned out that mobil premium fuel was to blame. the additives had seized my fuel pump. so i lucked out and had the $760 worth of fuel system parts, towing and draining/refilling the tank replaced at the expense of mobil. the guy at nissan told me that it wasn't uncommon to get maximas with the very same problem. so i'm avoiding mobil premium fuel from now on! if your car cuts out or won't start at all after cranking, look for fuel system problems.

i burned a quarter tank of mobil before the thing cut out on me while driving. it took a while to restart and it did. but 2 days later it just quit all together and would not restart. it was directly related to the mobil premium fuel. i had no other additives in the tank.

Ya man, it is a GOOD idea not to use ANY fuel addatives either. Even if the bottle says it is safe. Did you change your plugs? I bet they were dark red or looking like they were rusting. Or I could just not know anything about whatever it is I thought I was talking about.

So you're saying that premium mobil gas ruined your car? Hmm.....How long have you been using it? I have using mobile premium for 2 yrs, and no problems yet. Mabye it was a bad batch of gas.
yes, the guy at the dealer told me it was directly related to mobile premium fuel. he said that that's the only grade/brand they get problems with. sometimes the customers don't even roll out of the gas station. also, it could be the chemicals they use to clean the tanks. apparently mobil premium has been known to wreak havoc on certain nissan, infiniti and toyota pumps. i didn't ask any further questions as he told me mobil would be taking the expense of the repair. it just so happened that i decided to fill up at the mobil this one time since i was in a rush. i always thought mobil was a premium brand anyway. oh well.

I didn't even think that Mobil refines their own gas. I thought the big refiners were Chevron and Shell. But I guess Mobil takes that gas and puts thier own additives in like, likes the ones you mentioned that ruined your car. Well, if my pump goes, I know who to blame.
