Give me something to tap into! (Fog Lights)
Give me something to tap into! (Fog Lights)
I bought a set of CATZ MSX driving lights from another member. Im trying to figure out where to get power from safely. The instructions just say to get power from the battery but Im not sure about taking 16 gauge wire to the battery without just wrapping it around a terminal post which wont give me a good connection.
Im wondering where you guys got your power for your fogs/driving lights and if you all got power straight from the battery, how did you make the connection?

If you want you can get a clip for the wire and then attach it to the batt but without it you still will have a good connection.
Just make sure you ground them lights before you run it hot

I hooked up a set of air horns.
Yeah, you want a good connection.
Positive end I crimped a ring I got at radio shack onto a wire then an inline fuse holder [radio shack again] and bolted it down using the existing stuff on battery post. It was a fairly large ring, got it in an assortment pack. Negitive end to body using same crimed ring.
You could put the switch here:

Terminal 86: light switch power (fog lights)
Terminal 87: fog lights power
Terminal 85: chassis ground
Terminal 30: MAIN BATTERY POWER (with inline fuse)
Note that the the other power terminal of the fog light switch is hooked up to the parking light circuit (along with a inline fuse). With these type of connections, you can run your parking lights safely without any battery drain whatsoever from the fog light operation. I hope this helps any!
