hids, carbon fiber hood pics(inside)

Finally got my Hanabi Purple HIDs in with the help of Jaime(JAY25). Thanks a lot Jaime! Here are a few pics. Pics are kind of big, but quality is better. Btw, in these pics, if you look at the front grill, you can see my customized Maxima emblem(got from Sy). I had to shave it off a bit to make it fit. Also, you can see my front bumper conversion.

Hm...kind of odd. When I turn on the headlights, the driver side would flicker for a second or two then turns on. I thought maybe it's the fuse, so I change it to a 20amp fuse. It still flickers then turn on, the driver side anyway. Any ideas?

Mike when you turn them on they turn on then they dim a bit, then they slowly start to get brighter and brighter and thats how my work.
If thats what your talking about, it seems as if they are about to go off, thats normal, so dont worry about it. Also the 10:1 you forgot to give me the little housing that goes to the disk dont know if you still have it? I gave it to Matt today.

No that's not what I'm talking about. I know it will get brighter slowly. What I'm talking about is that when I turn on the headlight, it would flicker for a second or two, then turn on.

Oops...yeah, I still have the housing ring that goes with the disc.

saturday while we wait for the Marines to show up Ill look at that problem for you, if not we will wait til it gets a bit dark outside and see if my HIDs do the same, which I am sure they do flicker as well.

I think bandwidth was exceeded. I could still view the other four links except for the fourth one...weird.

You could also check out my homepage, I just uploaded the new pics on there. It's the third page.

I have the Purple Hanabi HIDs also. Change your side markers and bumper lights back to orange, the color contrast with orange looks so much better then white. You can't even come close to matching up the lights with these babies. Contrast them, it looks hot!

I sold them. Yeah, the HIDs are very bright. I had to reaim them again, mine was pointing up to the stop sign, a bit too high I think.

Cool, good to know. Thanks Deezo.

njmaxseltd: in the pics it might seem like the clearance lights matched up well with the HIDs, but maybe it's just the camera angle because it's not even close. I'll give the orange bulbs a try.

i tried orange bulbs once thinking it would give the acura cl/tl type look but it looked odd. let me how it looks with hids (i have regular bulbs).

Maybe cuz you should rewire your corners back to stock, and then put orange bulbs in. Maybe then it would look more like you wanted it. I tried the same thing on mine, and yellow was just little too bright, I was thinking once I'll rewire it back to stock, it would look much better but haven't done it yet.

BTW, I love those Purple Hanabi HID's, everytime I look at pics, makes me angry that I don't have them. How much were they again? $425?

Cumalot, about the flickering >>

The flicker you see is normal. This condition is caused by varying start-up voltage. HID systems for cars use the cold-start ballasts (meaning the electrodes inside the HID capsule are NOT pre-heated). Remembering back from high school physics class, that resistance increases as temperature increases, one can understand that the voltage will vary as temperatures change within the circuit.
