tires mounted the wrong way
tires mounted the wrong way
Back when I hadn't purchase my 2k2 6-spd max se, I went to a northern cal toyota dealer to get a brochure for the matrix (glad i got a v6 w/ a 6-spd). Any on the way to my pu truck, I see that the dealer had installed 17's with 45 series tires on a prius. I'm think what the #$%^@... I take a look around and noticed the tires were uni-directional like those of the nitto nt550's or something the like, but all four wheels were mounted backwards... I told the salesman who gave me the matrix brochures about it and he said they go on like that. I replied that the car would run fine if it was going to go in reverse 95% of the time, otherwise the tires will get screwed very shortly. Gosh, those car salesman... after he took a look again, I told him if his dealer don't want to look like they have incompetent service people, that he should change it. I left right after to go test drive a 2k2 max 6-spd down the block.
If you are getting such tires installed (uni-directional or asymetrical) make sure the shop puts it on right.
