I Have 2 Maximas, One is Auto And One Is Stick.. Help me out...

Ok, first i bought a 97 superblack SE on black leather interior AUTO.. That was my first problem, after a month i wanted to kick the car...

So i bought another maxima with manual transmission and i still have my 97 auto. The interior of the new one is tan and its without leather and i hate it. Can i switch the WHOLE interior from my auto to this one so its all black inside ? Has anyone ever tried this? is it hard to do? I'd really appreciate some feedback, thanks.

i think it is possible, but it maybe involve quite a bit of work to do so...if i'm not wrong, there are a few people who have done it, you can check them out...sweetsound2001 or some name to that extent, i think he's done it

yeah definetly. Seats, door paneling, other miscellaneous trim will be fairly easy. What will be tough is the dash-board, controls, etc. Hey, if worse comes to worse you have a two-tone interior. Black seats and doors with a tan dash. Might not look that bad. Good luck, let us know how it comes out.

Hardest parts to swap will be airbags/dashboard. Everything else is a piece of cake. I can swap everything out in less than 1/2 day but dashboard/airbags... I didn't try it. I just painted mine black.

you guys think its gonna be pretty hard changing the steering wheel with airbag and passenger side air bag? the whole dash center console is 1 piece i think, pretty hard to take out.

I personally like tan leather though I could do w/o the darker brown console.

Of course I cant change anything to brushed aluminium but hopefully the black chrome kits will be done soon

I'v replaced a dasboard before and replaced a transmission. I would swap the tranny and sell the car I didn't want. Especially since you know you have all the parts necessary for the swap. Sounds crazy but it's something to consider.

Seats and door panels, plug and play just like a lego set. No problems there.

The dashboard? That can be tricky. I would suggest looking into painting the tan one black. Black's an easy color anyway.

I swapped the entire dashboard before in my car, my stock one had a rip when I bought it, so I bought another 1 and swapped them... (anyone want to buy a stained tan dashboard? )

Like everyone said, it's not the easiest thing to do... The air bags were tricky, you need a very special key to get them off, which is not available anywhere I have looked, I had to modify a hex key to fit it, Besides that, you have to be really careful with the airbags, last thing you want to do is damage them or deploy them. It took me about 2 days, on and off, about 5-6 hours a day to do this. There are ton of switch connectors behind the dash, think of all the buttons, gauge cluster, A/C vents etc.. you do not want to drop a bolt somewhere in there either, it will rattle and you'll never get it out because the amount of wires behind there is huge.. i did it without removing the steering wheel, which was very tough, the dashboard is a solid unit, and I had to fit it over the top..

I am facing a similar situation, I don't like the tan interior, but my car is also auto so I loose both ways, to make it how i want it, i have to swap too much ****.

Or you could join my group deal and get custom leather interior for your 5spd and sell the auto

The auto is a good car and still quicker than most cars out there (even coupes), its just that its AUTO!! Big problem for me but some people want it that way.
