I just bought a 93 Maxima SE. Needs a little work here and there. One problem I have is with the sunroof and when it is in the closed position it isn't closing tight against the top of the car. It has some play in it. You can here wind noise and if you go through a car wash your going to get wet. Any ideas on adjusting this or a fix?

Also the rims are original and they have oxidized. any suggestions on cleaning them up?

The stereo is flakey, but I won't go there since we know the Bose system isn't the greatest...

Metal Polish

Did you try a metal polish in order to remove the oxidation from the rims?

Does that work on the rims that have the clear coat finish on it? It seems the clear coat has come off on some areas and then has oxidized. I think??? I would like to do something so I will give it a try. Don't have the budget to replace the rims yet.

Will the wire brush trash the rims? scratches and such? I've never had to clean rims that have oxidized and don't want to scratch the crap out of it. Any suggestions would help... thanks...

well it depends. If you have the aluminum ones... then it is fine. If you have the chrome plated ones then i would not recomend it.

Be careful

Wire brush and tile cleaner will destroy the finish. I know, I have the same finish on my '92. In fact, when I was cleaning the tires with comet and a scotchbrite pad, even that scratched the finish. Meguiars metal polish will polish it up again real nicely where the finish still remains, but the oxided portion still looks ugly. The Easwood company sells a wheel refinishing kit, which I am considering.

Does anyone have any tips on getting stained brake dust off of the rims. I normally dont have a problem getting the majority of it off, but it has built up and it black in the grooves of my rims. I have tried wire brush & cleaner but to no avail, it's still there. TIA
