last night and that thing moved! I caught him on the 75N to George Bush freeway exit. Once we got to the top of the hill he took off. This is a 5 lane toll-road with little patroling, so we basiacally topped out. I hit about 133, but was low on gas so let off there. He never would let me get next to him though. We went thru 2 lights and he always took the empty lane and I had to pull in behind him. Basically from what I could tell I could beat him by about a 1/4 to 1/2 car's length 0 to 60. I would just barely start pulling on him and he would turn or slow up for a light. NO FAIR! Anyway that thing had mucho power top end. about 120 he started to very slowly pull away from me. He finally slowed up and asked what I had, he said that he was frustrated that he couldn't shake me. "That's a damn fast Maxima" He had an intake, cat converter, and exhaust he said. Nice guy, just wouldn't take me straight up.
Yeah, them VTEC integras have a lot of high end. But with their lack of torque. Once he slows down he has to rev up again and it would take longer than our cars. Thats why he just kept going. Hehe. But up top.. 4th gen engines really don't have enough juice up there.. Maybe a 5th gen. Gotta respect the VTEC motors on the highway. I don't have as much respect for them in the 1/4 mile though.. Hehe

Must have been a GS-R
Yeah, those GS-R's are not too slow. But they are not much of a challenge when they are stock. A good race, but any 5-speed Max would have taken him unless he has some really major mods like a turbo or a supercharger.
Hmmmm
June 2000 Road & Track, in the back, lists test speeds and what not. A 99 Integra GS-R 0-60 in 7.2, 1/4 in 15.6
2000 Maxima SE Auto tested 5/00 0-60 in 7.8, 1/4 @ 15.9......
Sounds like a race to me! Granted the 5 spd max is faster, but Type R mods are so easy to come by, and they have been making them for along time and do quite well.
I am buying (as a second car, wife drives the max most of the time) a 4 dr GSR. Slightly modded already, and it worked my maxima. Quicker in the twisties also. Nothing compares to my max in the luxury/comfort/speed/fun ratios, but that little GS-R 4dr is a kick to drive, and man, I love those seats!!
Please don't hang me out to dry! It is just a neet little car!
