Installed BMW E36 sidemarkers lights

So I have been planning this for a while and I know my way around a car but even I was leary about taking the cutting wheel to the body of my beloved Maxima for install of these side markers.

97-98 BMW E36 3-Series clear sidemarker lights is exactly the model I got off EBay and I have to say the seller has a lot more styles to choose from but I liked these best for purely aesthetic reasons.

I will post pictures in an hour or so but I really like these functional mods in hopes it prevents a repeat occurence on a local strip nearby where some Yahoo just ran me off the road...I am glad there was a driveway there or my wheels would have taken quite a hit on the curb.

Not sure what you mean... I chose them for the shape and clear lenses. If I wanted a BMW and had the $$$ for it, I would have gotten the car attached to the lights

I Have the 2002 Markers Installed

I have the 2002 BMW 3 Series side markers molded into my fender. I choose it for the clean look. They weren't as bulky as some of the others out there on the market. I don't have any pictures readily available. But when i do i will post them.

Looks good

Like were you put them as opposed to up in the middle of nowhere. They look rather flush too as opposed to sticking out like others ive seen around.

This doesn't classify as a wannabe mod at all...

...even a BMW lover would be hard-pressed to say where the side markers came from. If you're going to buy side markers for your car, you buy whichever ones you like best - irrespective of where they came from.

GET SOME MORE PICS!!!

I have a set of sidemarkers that I have been debating for a week on where to install them. I wanted to put them where you have yours, but was afraid they are too low.

I am big on symmetry ... that is why I have so much more appeal to the 4th gens as opposed to the 5th. The body is much more even flowing in it's lines.

the maxima's are lucky, I have molding down there so I couldn't put mine in that spot. I do like the low profile of the BMW lights, but I think that it has a better look up higher it gives an imaginary line of lights on the car if you look at them from the side.

What you can do is recess the sidemarker into the molding...that would be different from many I have seen...you may best remove the molding all together and then install lights and modify molding to mount over the way you want.

Do you have a link to the E-bay auction you got them from?

I'd be interested in shopping for these. I almost had a "lane-change incursion" the other day w/ some stupid soccer mom in a Ford Excursion who was busy talking on a cell phone & scolding the kids in the back seat while simultaneously changing into the same lane as me after I initiated my move. . .

The sidemarkers look cool, but their "function" (read: safety) is what appeals to me most.

Btw, they look great!

And I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I don't want the others here to be mislead. There aren't E36 sidemarkers. They are replicas of the E46 sidemarkers. The E36 sidemarkers are larger, and have a substantial amount of black trim around them, using a screw that is exposed from the front to secure them to the fender. They look like this:

It appears the ones you have are these, which are from the E46:

They look like clear bumper lenses for E46, not side markers. Look at my sig pic, you'll see them (amber in color) on the side of front bumper.

Whatever they are, they look good. Did you wire them to your turn signal, so they blink when you turn? I like how they don't stick out too much, look like they came with the car, not flashy like some sidemarkers I've seen.

Just don't put superwhites in their and you'll be fine. I think superwhites in sidemarkers stand out too much, but if that's what you want to do then it's your call. They do look good.

They are advertised at E36 side markers not clear corners and the one in the picture has the same looking one in front of the door...any way I make enough $$$ to buy the side marker on EBay not the car connected to it so I don't know BMW models inside out.

They stay on if the lights are on with the front sidemarkers and blink when needed...since I rewired the sidemarkers.
