Hello All,
I am looking to get APC SuperWhite Xenon bulbs for my headlights (9004) and my foglights (H3) on my 1997 SE. I want to get the 100/80W bulbs (head) and the 100W bulbs (fog). I was wondering if anybody had any advice about the necessity of Upgrading the wiring harness. If it is necessary, is it expensive? Difficult? Necessary at both locations? Also, where can I buy both the lenses and the Harness. And, if there are any other suggestions for bulbs that will give me near-HID quality and intensity, without replacing the harness, that information would be great too. Thanks all for your help.

If you plan on running 80/100W 9004s...IMHO you will need the harness. Some poeple here haven't had problems...others have had their connectors turn to goop. It's your call. THe harness can be had for anywhere between $35 and $50.

There are no harnesses availible for the foglamps...the main concern here is the glass lens. Try to keep the wattage under 85W.

I had 100W in my fogs and they shattered. Stick with the 55W hyperwhites, its not worth the hassle to get replacement fogs, they are hard to find and expensive.

And the difference in the wattage is not noticable, I don't care what anyone says.

Eurolites

I have Eurolite XENON HIDS #9004 Headlights 80/100W no problems and have had them for about 3 months,#H3 Fog Lights 100W no probs either no harness or nothing,#1157 Side Markers and rewired also,#194 clear corners. These are real nice they are Superwhite,Hyperwhite similated HID real bright white with the right tint of blue. I like them a lot and get plenty of compliments for being nice and bright white looking and I got them fom ebay for a good price search for "Eurolite". They also have the blue dyed into the bulb so when you look into the headlights in the daytime the blue reflects againts the chrome background in the headlights it looks real good in all the bulbs. Green, purple,it's your car but think about this it all got started from the European look Mercedes the HID(High,Intensity,Discharge)look from the lighting system, these bulbs have A BLUE tint not Puple,Green,or rainbow, BLUE ONLY,HINT,HINT,stay with the style, stay with BLUE,NO RED,GREEN,PURPLE,ANYTHING. HID LOOK "BLUE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The APC's are a great bulb. Im one of the people who run em without a harness. Had em for aaaaahh...I think about 3-4 months now, no problems. Color is BEAUTIFUL, light output GORGEOUS. They are 80/100. If your looking to go with the harness, Im TOLD (never saw it myself) that the harness makes the low beams even brighter thereby flush'n out some of that lovely bluish hue. just a headz up....

I ran 80/100 watt bulbs for over a year before i noticed that the connectors were melting. I went to my local Nissan dealer and got a new connector for 5 bucks. The wires on the new connector are thicker then stock. Since then I have never had any problems. This was over 2 years ago.

Agreed. Rain sucks!

I think it is the same for all "white" bulbs, not just the APCs. I am still deciding as to whether I shall go PIAAs or just some less costly Sylvania CBs. Btw, the low beam of one of my APCs went out after an hour of driving. (Shipping damages, probably.)

NE1 has a pair of Super Plasma H3 from PIAA (japan) as fogs?
I saw those at autofreak.com. They have a store in Japantown, SF. Pretty expensive, but it sounds better than the plain white H3.
