Whoa, raced a 94 lude tonight....and got a new respect!

Dude at work has a riced out 94 non vtec lude 5spd that he just got with i/e/h. He wanted to run so i said no prob. I thought his *** would be handed to him since he was non vtec. So we hit it from a roll at 20mph, and up to 120mph i only had a car to a car and a half! Geez guys, this scares me to pull up next to a 2.2vtec lude with the same mods. Im sure if it was off a light i would have had the advantage instead of doing it from a roll. BTW, i have a 95 5spd, i/y. Man, i want that m.e v.i now!

The 95-96 Lude Si's (2.3L) were actually my first choice when I was car shopping last summer....a little more sporty of a car than the max, decent torque for a honda 4-banger (152 ft/lbs I believe in the 2.3L?), and that damn cool interior with the gas-lit gauges...mmm.

(Actually, 94-95 Type II Legend 6-speed coupes were my first choice,
but due to rarity were impossible to find)

i raced a 93 vtec lude with i/h/e, he had a good car length on me by the time it was over at about 90. granted, i have an automatic with i/y/e, it still gave me a beating.

A buddy of mine has a '93 Si prelude and it will run a 15.2 with i/h/e. They are pretty quick and the 2.3L does have good amounts of low end torque.

My girlfriend has 96si w/5 spd

...which I drive often, and the 2nd gear could really make the Max work though.... It has a very nice take up and 3rd is still strong.

The car only has exhaust, but I figure it could go faster than my 97 Max if you could drive it nicely.

i did research on a lot of cars and i can't believe the maxima has so much torque and hp over them...prleude only has 150 something compared to maxima 205...it's like i feel it when driving but when you look at prelude, a little small, real sporty, real low, you think of a supra and when you read the stats, it's like all show or something....how can such a nice sporty looking car only have 154 torque? and it's hp i forget but it was no mroe than 170....DAM 4 cylinder vehicles

Why frown? That stock 2.3Si with 160hp/152ft/lbs could probably even walk on a sloshy GLE, much less run right with a 5-speed SE. The G4 ludes are smaller, handle better than the max (mods aside, obviously), cost a little less, sportier styling, etc, etc. Apples and oranges here, really. What were you expecting from a 4-cylinder mid-90s N/A coupe? Something lower than mid/low 15s stock?

I ran a 93 non vtec when my max was totally stock. He took my from the launch cause his car was so damn light, but he was shifting to 3rd when i was just hitting 5k in second....i ripped him one after that. All he saw were my ugly tails until i hit 100 and shut it down.

I've raced one from a roll 20mph+ and ripped him a new one, but when we go at it from a dead, it's pretty close.

Although someone said the gear rations were real nice, I don't know about that because my friend in a Z24 Cavalier always takes my Si friend out because the Chevy has a longer 3rd gear, so thereofore pulls on the Lude.

BTW, I raced a VTEC on the highway, and it was pretty close, I had to hold on to 3rd @ 123+@6500 rpms to beat him, I had him by a car by70, then he gained me and matched me, then I started to gain again, then by ~125-130(thats what my speedo read anyways) I started to gain very slightly again. All he had was a cat-back, look at my sig for my mods.

94 accord

Two weeks ago I blew the doors off a 94 accord n/a. Either the dude didnt know how to shift or accords are weak. It fealt pretty damn good to take a riceboy honda in a third gen max.

I've raced again my friend's prelude VTEC a few times too. My car is bone stock, he's got a few minor mods. Everytime we race, it's basically the same outcome. We start either from a stop or slow rolling start. I can usually get about half a car to a car's length ahead of him until I hit into 3rd gear. At that point, he usually pulls on me until he's about a car's length and stay that way til we hit 4th (which is when we stop). I raced him once when he had a straight pipe in, so I wasn't surprised I lost that time. The other times, he usually took everything off and left just like an air filter or something.

the older gen ludes aren't something to take lightly. the VTEC are good competition, but the non-VTEC are pretty easy to take down.
(FYI, the 92 VTEC 5 spds run about 15.2 stock)..

I've raced a handfull of each and have yet to be beaten. most of the VTECs didn't have much for mods though.

and whether or not they have 50ft-lb less torque than a Max, they're also smaller, lighter, and have shorter gearing. makes a big difference against our boats.

Really? I thought back before I researched the G4 ludes, that the Si's were a little, but noticably slower than the VTECs. However, after I consulted some numbers from various sources, it seems the 5-speed Si's run mid-15s...the first year of the VTEC model, 1993, was charted from 15.2-15.4 depending on the source. I've seen at best 15.0-15.1 from the 94-96 VTECs. So not really too much difference in the quarter from what they say. I'm not a track guy though, so things might shape up differently at the track.

Man I love beatin on hondas it seems like everyone in that accords car club want to race me now. I went out last night and just bar hoppin I had three people want to go. I never thought that people would want to race a four door! BTW I didnt race anyone. Street racing is only cool in the movies and besides I dont want to wreck my car to prove to someone else how fast my car is. Besides Id want to take out the 2 12s and amp before I race anyone again.
