im hooking up a monitor, which wire should i connect to the power?

I'm gonna connect the power and ground wires from my monitor to the same ones that the cd player uses. Only problem is there is 12V battery wire (yellow) and a 12V ignition/switched wire (red). Should i hook the power wire from the monitor to both or just one of those i just mentioned? Problem is I dont want to accidentally leave the monitor on.. help quick..

Your best bet would be to hook it up to the ignition, that way there is no way that you could leave it on.
