Eibach springs installed finally!

Say gang, I just finished REinstalling the rear Eibach springs on stock shocks. I did the install of the fronts on Tuesday of this past week and they felt and still feel great! I did the rears yesterday and went for a sprin last night and they were horrible, bounced all over the place! Well I knew something wasn't right because the fronts are rock solid and stable. Soooo, I removed everything and realized that I completely left out the lower bumpstop! I was rushing Saturday and removed it but failed to trim and reinstall the bastards. If you've removed your shocks or have the ESM you'll know that there is an upper AND a lower rubber bump stop. I left the upper at stock size and trimmed the lower by just over an inch. Went out for a spin today...what a F'N difference a day makes! The car feels wonderfully stable and secure. Lean, dive and squat are tremendously reduced and I don't yet feel ANY of the bounciness that others have described. I don't know how long it'll take to fully settle but my fronts have seen 5 days of riding with no discernable degradation in ride quality. I think it feels wonderful. Plan to take pics tonight and hopefully get them posted tomorrow.

What are you talking about triming? Do have the GC's?

Trimming the bump stop. Eibachs instructions are to trim both front and rear total bumpstop heights be 30 mm (front) and 26 mm (rear). If you don't, you lose some suspension travel I'm guessing. Pics later tonight I hope...I'm stuck on the road in Indiana today and won't get home til later.

Sounds sweet. How much were they? I'm a little concerned about how cheap some of these spring prices are (maxspeed for instance). I had Eibach's on my Stang Gt with 17x9 rims. That car looked GREAT. I can't wait to drop my max. The stang springs were like $235 or something if I remember right.
Progressive rate, right?

Yeah, I was curious about the different prices/brands of springs. You've got the H&R, Eibach Pro Kits, and Progressive, and Maxspeed, does that sound about right? So many different opinions...
Here's a link to a brand new set of Eibach ProKit springs being sold on EBay for a good price: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ndexURL=0&rd=1 Just somethin I found while browsing around. I got a couple 6.4 inch LCDs if anyone's interested...I posted them in the "For Sale" forum.

That sounds like a good deal. I was thinking about the maxspeeds because people have been posting picking them up for like $90. Is that correct? I'd worry about quality at that price. Eibachs are definitely a great spring.

Yeah, I hear some people bashing the Eibachs on here, but should they be the best (by price/brand POV). I'm skeptical of the sub-$100 Maxspeed and Progress springs.

Given Maxspeeds normally retail $140 and can be had (In a Group Deal) for $85 doesn't mean it's a bad spring. It just shows that 1) For other springs, there's a good chance you're paying a bit more just for the brand and 2) The profit margins on springs in general are quite good.

Maxspeeds have been used for years as a low-cost/good-quality suspension solution with the Honda/VW crowd. We're just lucky enough to have applications for the Maxima.

Like you and Triple8sol, I wanted to go with reputable brand that is known for quality like H&R or Eibach. I am sorry Maxspeed has not been around as long as these guys nor IMO do they have the quality that these two companies do. Remember I said IMO! I made the mistake of buying a cheaper less known brand with my honduh and it was all G in the begining and when I hit 25k the were drooping and sh*t. I will never do that again!

heyhey

Maxspeeds are ISO 9000 certified.
These are stringent European standards - the same specs H&R has to meet. That's all you need to guarantee quality. Check it out!

I saw and so are Eibachs. Like I said I bought the Eibachs cuz they have been around for a long time and that alone says a lot. My past experiences forces me to do this.

That's cool, I just wanted share that, b/c seemed like there were questions on Maxspeed's quality.

Sorry for the delay in getting new pics posted, I've been on the road this week for work and haven't had time to post. Here are a couple of pics of my post-Eibach install. Check my webpage to see some stock rim/spring shots.

I believe the more stringent standard would be TUV certification. ISO is much easier to obtain IIRC and doesn't necessarily guarantee quality, it only means that processes are properly documented, updated, signed off on, etc. Not implying that Maxspeeds aren't solid, only that ISO isn't in and of itself the quality guarantee that some believe it is.

Thanks TruBlu! The wheels are smokin! I get tons of compliments and info requests. Most folks aren't familiar with Mille Miglias unless they've been on Tire Rack's site. The ride is very nice and solid with stock shocks so far. I've not bottomed out anywhere and have easily taken corners at twice the posted speed with minimal body roll. I think a slightly stouter rebound rate on the shocks would be almost perfect. In fact I'm leaning towards not even getting an anti-roll bar because its so good right now. I suspect Tokico Blues would be perfect for Eibach pro-kits!

Looks sweet yo! Do you have sounds in the back or is that how it sits? You can definately tell the difference from stock though! Really the handling improved that much just from the drop! Thats good to hear. Now I am even more stoked to get them in!

I've got some sounds in the rear but nothing too heavy. The rear is still a bit lower than the front but overall the ratio is much better now. The handling improved substantially, can't wait til see if some adjustable struts make it to market this summer.
