putting 17'' 2k2 maxima whells on my 95' Max

I just bought 2k2 17" Maxima OEM wheels for my 95' Maxima and was hoping somebody could give some insight on the limits in width and size of tire for this rim. For Example, I'd like a wider tire like a 235/45 but I know that stock on this rim is a 225/50. Should I go with the stock size or other and which would look the best. Thanks Gabe

I think Nitto is the only company that says that a 235 series tire can fit a a 7" wide rim. Not sure though. I don't think other companies say that a 235 is safe to put on a 7" rim. Many members have done it, but I don't know how long they will hold up.

Nice choice! The '02 rims look great, especially without the cover plate that earlier 5th gen SE's have.

225 width is the safest width you can do. No tire mfg will recommend any wider on a 7" wide rim. Needless to say, many here have 235/45R17. May be a little harder to mount but is doable.

Problem with 225/50R17 stock size is that very little tire choices are available. Certainly nothing too good, and you will be paying big dollars to boot. Going slightly smaller with 225/45R17 is a very popular size, is safe, and doesn't throw of the speedo significantly. That's what I would recommend. Some inexpensive (but good) options are: Kuhmo Ecstas712, Sumitomo HTRZII.
