96 max brakes.. the story continues.

hello all im new to the boards here...
for info nitrous, electrical, and stereo info feel free to ask ill give you my best advice as i would hope you would give me. my girlfriend owns a great 96 maxima which is the reason i jumped on the boards her for parts ad info... i myself drive an integra (dont bash me) so a i said... hello all ! now maybe a little help with a problemi cnt seem to knock.

the story.

we bought a 4th gen maxima(96) for my girl... great car. but when we bought it we got ****ed by the dealership because the car had some ****ed brakes...loooong story but in the end lets just say i had to replace it all.

SO i recently replaced all four rotors and backed it up with new pads all around of course. pretty easy application giving the car has floating rotors and the brake pads are like 3 bolts... so they are on the car... without a problem i flushed all the dirty brake fluid out the system while i was at it (dirty fluid annoys me) and i thought i was done.

a week later they start to sqeak and never went away like i hoped.
3 weeks later i took the pads off and did the filing down of the edges like one mechanic suggested. still sqeaked a week later and didnt go away yet again.
5 weeks later i thought to clean it all up maybe my grease monkey hands did something to wrong so ill go back take it all off clean everything perfectly and put it all back on yet again in hopes i did something wrong. nooo! again sqeaking a week after.

im mad... i want to get rid of the sqeak help a ***** out. at light braking hard braking any breaking... they sqeak i know when my girl is hope cause i hear the brakes before i see the car... mechanics of the world unite! ive been driving my girls car since my car has been on its way to a slow death and its annoying! help

i will try any idea throw at me..

thank you in advance...

What brand of pads did you buy? Maximas are very "sensitive" to aftermarket pads. They tend to squeal, and the sound is fairly impossible to get rid of. Install Nissan pads and you shouldn't have a problem at all. Nissan brand pads seem to last longer too!

Anti-squeal ... did you use it on the pads when you install it?

okay check it...

i installed some straight up auto zone pads... but the better ones that they had... i myself run the metal masters on my own car but neglected to worry about the pads on the max for the reason that she doesnt like the "high performance" stuff... so nissan pads huh... okay... thats the deal then tomorrow the journey continues to nissan to get the oem pads from the dealer... like i said ill try anything... thanks for the reply...

and yes anti squeal "blue **** that wont come off clothes) was installed. thanks for the effort though.. ill keep you posted on the pads after the new install... i knew you guys would know.

Had exactly the same problem before also... new rotors, hard pads, soft pads, expensive & cheap pads, anti-squeal, new shims, about a dozen times pulling the wheels off, and a s***load of wife-nagging!!

Problem solved with Nissan brake pads about $140CAD for the front only.

Later,
Peter
