Changed from PR-CAI to Hybrid Intake today....Impressions

I removed the lower portion of my Place Racing CAI today, moving the Monster Flow filter from inside the fender to under the hood.
Here's what I've noticed after taking it for a couple spins...
- Growl is a little louder throughout the rpm range, but seems to be more inside the cabin rather than outside. I did have my windows open and it still sounded loud outside. With them closed, it was definitely louder in the cabin.
- Much less power off the line and in low end. Usually can't hit the gas too hard off the line or my tires chirp, but with the Hybrid that was not the case. Felt much less initial pull.
- Felt some high end gains up around 4, but nothing huge.
- Overall, felt a little sluggish, but not drastic.

The Hybrid is still a HUGE improvement over stock and even just a Pop-charger. I think with a velocity stack more performance could be seen. I would still go with the CAI, which I think I am going to put back in this weekend after my exhaust work gets done(b-pipe and muffler).
Just wanted to give my observations on this change b/c I know some guys are thinking about moving over to the Hybrid or Frankencar.

I have an auto with all stock exhaust. Putting a b-pipe and muffler on this week.
After driving the car all night and today, I am starting to think I like the Hybrid a little more than the CAI. High end is great!! and low end doesn't seem to have been lost asmuch as I originally stated.

I made the switch not to long ago and I noticed more top end. I also noticed that 1st gear goes by in a heartbeat. I have bounced off of the rev limiter 3 times now! The engine revs much quicker now.

IS that because of the hybrid or the power to redline "problem" you have recently developed.

Yea I'm becoming quite familiar with the rev limiter myself. Gets up there so quick now!

Maybe a stupid question but.....

Do you have to relocate the battery when you put on the hybrid intake you guys are talking about? I thought I read somewhere that you would have to put the battery in the trunk if you wanted a hybrid intake.
Thanks,
Tom

Well I have to admit that before my power to redline problem I never hit the rev limiter. Now I hit the rev limiter in first gear. The first time I hit the rev limiter in first gear I said to myself "WTF is going on? It's not time to shift yet!"

As an example let's say the combination of the power to redline problem and cai I could accelerate through first gear in 4 seconds. With the power to redline problem and hybrid intake now I can accelerate through first gear in 3 seconds.

I have had my CAI installed for so long I knew when to shift by sound, feel, and time. Even with the addition of the power to redline problem throttle response or how quickly the revs climbed stayed the same.

The change to a hybrid intake has thrown my "maxima" senses askew. It will take for me to relearn.
