Just put on Y-pipe and Exhaust

Well fellas I just got my y-pipe and exhaust(bomb3 obx) put on and my exhaust is loud. When I went around my girls house she said I had her windows shaking and when I went to park in a shopping mall my exhaust set of the car alarm next to me. Is my exhaust to Loud? Is that a good or bad thing?

How does it feel? Notice a big increase in power?

You'll get used to setting alarms off
As long as your car doesnt sound like bees-in-a-can, loud is good. Have you taken the cat and resonator off? Just wait and see how it sounds after you do that

Congrats on the y-pipe, but your exhaust is too loud. I know because I used to have the exact setup, but I had the OBX B5 and a y-pipe. My Greddy SP is now a lot quieter and its a cat-back. Before, I had to drive around with my silencer in all the time. I used to be able to set off car alarms from 50 parking spaces back.

yes, my exhaust is too loud also. i hate to admit it, but it becomes uncomfortable even for a 15 minute drive is there a way i can make it more ideal so i don't have to put the ugly silencer on all the time? i'd hate to have a shop chop up the nice courtesy 304SS bpipe to install resontators. there is room before my N1 style muffler, but i'm not sure if a resonator that size will do anything. any thoughts? the muffler looks too good for the silencer to be on all the time. if i can have the sound reduced slightly to take the edge off the drone i would be completely happy.

I have the same concerns about putting on a Y-pipe and new muffler. How about a offset muffler instead of straight through? A universal magnaflow or flowmaster, somethiing like that? Is it even worth the difference between stock and a new offset muffler w/ a tip?

I'm guessing all the N1 style mufflers are going to be loud. I believe the larger and longer the diameter of the shell or body of the muffler, the less louder it'll be. I thought my Greddy would be more louder than my N1 since it had a smaller resonator on their b-pipe, but it turned out be quieter. I'm guessing because the muffler is almost the same shape of the factory one. To quiet down your N1 style muffler, you have no choice than to have a muffler shop put in a large resonator in your b-pipe if you plan to not use the silencer.

the courtesy bpipe already has a large one and it's still hella loud. i'm thinking the only places i can get them installed is right before the muffler. that's not much room around the axle so my last option is buy a SS resonator and have a shop weld it on the bpipe. or just blow up my maxima it sucks to have something not work the first time around. this means more $$ and time. the greddy is too quiet for me, but the N1 is overly noisy. if anyone has resolved this please help.

If you guys need to silence your exhaust, it looks like the only choices are to put the stock muffler on, or a 2K muffler. I'm in the process of upgrading my B pipe and I got my 2K muffler waiting

Y pipe + aftermarket muffler = Lotsa noise.

Yea, I know how you feel. I was looking around and I came upon a website (http://www.optauto.com/webstore/prod...=yes&dept=1404) that offers the Apexi cat-back for $399, but shipping charges were about $55 to my state of MD, so shipping will be the deciding factor for those who would want to order one through them. I believe there's a group deal going on for $425 shipped, so this is only about $30 more than having to wait for other buyers to join. Maybe you could sell your current setup to someone else on the org or on eBay, get most of all of your money back, save up a couple dollars, and order one through them. They're a lot less expensive than the Greddy, and they were going for $500 on the group deal.
