Adding power trunk release (stock or universil)
Adding power trunk release (stock or universil)
I added a universil type power trunk release to my no options Max and hooked it up to my aftermarket alarm. It worked good for a while, then sometimes it would take two presses on the remote to get the trunk to open. Some fiddling with it got it working good for a while, then it went back to taking two tries all the time or not working at all. I think the problem is it does not pull the latch hard enough. It was pretty cheap (~$20), so I am not to disapointed but I really miss bing able to open my trunk with the remote.
How hard would it be to add the stock power trunk release? I don't mind not having a button up front, I mostly want it to work with the alarm. Any idea what a dealer or junkyard would charge for this? Are there any brands of universil power trunk releases that would work better?

Turns out the cheap universil one I have works fine. The problem was that a because of the angle the unniversil trunk release pulled the latch it would partialy activate the security system that makes it so the trunk opens only with the key. So after a couple of uses it would not work anymore, but the trunk relase lever in the car still worked
. When I fooled around with it I was putting the latch back to it's normal position without relizing it. I am not sure if this was a problem only for my car or if it would happen on any max that added a universil trunk release. I can't remembr the exact kit I got but I would recommend trying it.
