Installed FSTB, still can't take 15mph corner at 45!!!(Crash Story)

Ok, for those of you who can't stomach Maxima abuse, please hit the back button on your browser. Anyways, yesterday I installed my $35 FSTB I bought off of eBay. Definitely noticed an improvement, just like everyone says. Body roll wasn't affected, but once the car rolls in to the corner its holds like its on rails. Very nice. So I decide to drive to my friends place, out in farm land about 40 minutes away. All beautiful windy backroads. I'm flying along, average speed of 80, really putting my ride to the test. Loving every minute of it. I come to a stretch of road that has 25 mph(rated) corners. Dropping to second i tear through these corners, almost getting the back end to come around. I approach the "15mph" turn while hauling *ss(60 or so). Because I'd handled the previous corners so well, I think to myself, "what's another 10mph, I can handle this". I drop to second doing about 50, enter the corner WAY too fast, and here's the rookie mistake---SLAM ON MY BRAKES! What happened? Exactly what's supposed to, ABS kicks in and now instead of turning I'm decelerating in a straight line. Woops, straight line means I'm going over that bank and into the Raspberry field. Hey, where'd that 4" post come from? Oh, its gone now. Was that glass breaking? Nope, just the bailing wire scraping across my roof....and I come to a stop. Freaked the "h" out, i'm sitting 40 feet into a dirt field, IN the bushes. I hop out real quick to survey the damage, see nothing major, throw it in Reverse(dont know how i wasnt stuck) and back out. If anybody wants a crazy adrenaline rush, attempt wrecking your car, its nuts.
DAMAGE--
I washed the car once I got to my friends so i could survey the damage, by this time it was 1am. Slight discoloration on a 3" section of the lower air dam (4" post mentioned earlier), and a ton of little surface scratches (bailing wire) on my roof that should buff out.
Hope you enjoyed this story, and if you're going to flame remember, this only happened because I love driving my MAX!!

Dude you should take it easy. Find out what the limits of your car are, then push to the limit. Glad you and your Max are ok.

yeah

and slowly reach your limit by going faster incrementally..not go straight to the limit and work your way down.

Dude, just remember that if the 4" post was a 14" maple tree you'd be dead.

Good job there.

This didn't happen because you love driving your Max, this happened because you're none too smart.

Where in the world did you get the idea that you can take a 15 mph turn at 50 mph with only a FSTB? Turns like it's on rails with only a FSTB? Not even close. Reduced bodyroll with only a FSTB? No way Jose.

You couldn't take 15 mph turns at 50 mph even with a RSB.

Thanks for everyone's concern--Clee130
I knew I couldnt take the turn at 15mph, this was an unfamiliar area and I forgot how tight the corner was. Notice how I alluded to my stupidity in my post, I dont deny this was an extremely dumb thing to do. Also, note that I NEVER STATED the FSTB reduced bodyroll. That would make no sense. Check your intelligence before you continue insulting mine.

Wait wait wait ... so you took a turn at 50 mph that was meant to be taken at 15 mph in an area you were unfamiliar with?!?

BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

And I'm the one that needs to check my intelligence?

sorry, i'm with clee and the others on this one...but even if it was in an area i did know, the turn says 15 MPH for a reason, not just outta pure stupidity of the city...I understand that there are many times where you can take the turn faster than posted, but no matter whawt the area is, known or unknown, and no matter how much suspension action I have, I would never take a turn more than 10 MPH over the posted limit..but sorry, I'm with clee

hahaha! You mean you thought the FSTB was going to enable to you take turn 15mph faster and you are asking Clee to check his intelligence?

all i can say is this, find a place locally where u can autocross. by autocrossin u find that threshold of the limits of ur car, and develop a sub conscious degree of how hard u can push ur car before just being stupid. its a great thing to do and makes u never feel nervous in sticky situations. plus u get to see how much each mod does, more on the suspension side. trust me.

Wow, the love on this board is amazing. I posted this mainly for entertainment purposes, reread the story, it's quite comical. Also, in order to make the story better, I exagerrated. But back the the corner...every other corner I had doubled the posted speed. I got a little overconfident, and i knew I entered it way to fast. DO I need to say this again? I ENTERED THE CORNER WAY TOO FAST AND KNEW I HAD NO WAY OF MAKING IT. I am by no means a new driver, perfectly clean record, no accidents. Just made a dumbarse mistake and thought you would enjoy reading about it. Looking back, there's no way it would happen again, but it was an interesting experience. Read and Laugh, then move on.

I'm from Seattle area, Redmond actually. This road was on the back roads between Redmond and Monroe(technically Duvall I believe).

Quick question-- Just wondering, do the moderators get paid to moderate? I notice that they have thousands of posts, seem to be on every thread. Who has time to do this unless they are actually employed to do so? Just curious, no sarcasm or insult intended.

Who knows the limits of your car better - yourself or guys that decide to post a corner speed sign? That's exactly why I don't pay attention to corner speed signs except as a safety guide. Especially when riding the motorcycle - I've taken 20 mph corners at 65 and then there have been decreasing radius corners that are posted 15 mph and I couldn't take much faster than that.
Isn't it possible this mishap would not have happened if there was no corner speed sign? Hopefully you'd be more cautious entering a corner you are not familier with. Either way bud, there's nothing that can tell you what your limits are better than you can.

Ever wonder why road racers never have speedometers on their cars or bikes?
