Found a prospective purchase, need input, please...

I found a 1998 GXE, bronze/gold color, cloth, nothing special, except that it is a Maxima and it is local. 68K, asking $11,500. How does it sound. I know the owner from work, he seems to take good care of the vehicle, but he bought it used, so no idea how it was maintained before. What do you guys think? I hate the color, but it all seems to be in good shape. He says the price is firm (claims a book in the mid $13,000s), but i think that about $10,500 sounds more reasonable.

kbb.com says $9,775 on a 98 GXE with 68k, automatic, with no extra options checked (defaults left checked), in "Good" condition, not excellent, for a private seller price. They do tend to shoot a little low on those I think, so $10k might not be a bad price, but for 11,5, I think you could find a comparable GXE with lower miles.

Go to www.kbb.com and enter all the info of the car and you should receive a price of what the car is worth. But sounds kinda high, I had a 97 SE fully loaded and wanted 12k and dealer sold for 14k this was a year and a half ago. Give him 10k at the most. I went to kbb.com and did a search and got $9,500 as private sale value.
