Dash question - what am i missing here?

Quick question if anyone can help.

On my 4th gen, one of my dash peices does not sit in right flush with the rest of the console. It's the peice that houses the clock and the rear defroster button. There's a gap right at the bottom of that peice and the top of the climate control. If I press the peice in, it will fit fine, but then it starts to pop back out. If I turn the heat on, forget it, the whole bottom of the clock peice pops out. It's like I can never get it to sit flush. Am I missing something here? Is it held in by a clip or something that maybe I lost.

It's driving me NUTS if anyone can help.

Thanks

I had that problem too. Since I've installed the carbon fibre kit it stuck out even more. What I did was push that side straight in and it seemed to catch in the back.

This is a common problem when the panel piece is removed. I had the same problem when I installed my head unit. What I did to solve this was that I bought some 1/8" black weather gasket to fill in the gap. This way it looked flushed with everything else without any noticeable gaps.

All it is are the clips on the sides. Remove the panel and play around with the clips.

I need to get around to doing mine also..

there are 2 little tabs that are on the bottom of each side of the clock unit. what you need to do is pull out the clock unit and when putting the piece back in, make shure that the 2 tabs are lined up correctly so that they will snap into the holes that are in there. also theres the clip thats on top of the clock.

Nismo, my tabs don't snap in. They only act as a "line-up" for the bezel. The clips on the sides hold it in. Are the 97-99 years different

I shouldnt have said "snapped" but what I mean is that if one of those tabs dont go in the hole correctly, they will bend and will not allow the dash piece to completely fit flush. I had this problem a few times when other installers remove my dash piece so I always have to check to make shure they got those tabs lined up correctly. I already have one of those tabs broken since one got bent in half while installing and I broke it while I was trying to bend it back straight
