Rebuild this 97 Max worth it?

Hello, I have been a big fan of Maxima's for some time now. I have owned a 93 GXE and gave it to my grandmother so she could have something reliable to drive. Well now I am stuck with an 85 Honda Accord. Its a good car, but of course I want a Maxima. I am really straped for money, but was wondering if this car on this ebay web page is worth rebuilding. I only consider this cause I live in Paducah, close to this car. I was wondering if you all would know how much it would cost to fix up. A really rough estimate. I just really need to know if its worth fixing up or go out and get one that's not wrecked for about 9000-10000 dollars. If you read there are extra pictures you can download.

Thanks

Dave

Judging by the looks, I'd say a new fender, new bumper, new hood, new grille, possible engine work...I would e-mail the seller and see if there is ANY engine work that needs to be done....I would say you're looking at least 3K worth of work for the car.....if you have the cash and the time, I'd say go for it....otherwise, its a junker...

actually, you could probably find the fenders, bumper, hood and grill for no more than 2 grand tops, aftermarket parts even (i.e. cf hood, phase II fenders). i've found a place or two that sells engines for usually $450-$550. good luck!

That Maxima needs A LOT of work - the frame is bent and the engine does not even sit in the bay properly. I'm guessing $5k+, and I don't think it's worth it because if you shop around for a little while you'll find a '95 for that price.

Yeah, you're right. The engine is eitting in the engine bay at a tilt angle. Not a good sign AT ALL.

Is it me or does the engine look tilted to one side? If it is that is not a good sign.

HAHAHAHAH...It looks like the seller just dropped a engine in the bay and its just sitting in there cause it even sits lower than normal to me. But I remeber a post about someone that had around the same damage and most were saying his car was totaled and it would be around 7-8 thousand it had almost the same damage. Maybe the previous buyer decided against buying it cause he realized how bad the wreck was after he saw it in person!

As mostly every-1 said, that engine is sitting at a funny angle which could lead to future problems, prob. needs a mount or 2, lots of body work as well up front, the rest of the car doesn't look all too bad but if I were you I'd spend your $$ on a Max that looks and maybe runs in far better condition than that

This will propably cost you way over $6,000. The engine is messed up and the body work alone will be a couple thousand. I have a little scratch on my door with a little dent and the body shop wants $650 just to fix that.
Thanks,
Paul
