interior and parking lights out..
interior and parking lights out..
hi,
i did the tail lights rewire and the the corner rewiring as per craig's site. my corners are using polarg bulbs. tail lights are stock bulbs, however one filament on one is gone so it does not get brighter when i step on the brake.
all of a sudden the interior lights went off. when i checked the parking lights are also out. brakes, signal etc., all work fine. the fogs are also connected from the corners.
i think the fuse is gone. the fuse map states that the tail light fuse takes 10A fuse. is this true and will it sort my problem out? is it the blown filament on the one bulb that caused the problem or too much on that one circuit?
any help will be appreciated.

could it be the bad bulb that caused the fuse to blow?

whatever you do..DO NOT just put in a higher amp fuse in.

happened to me tooo
same thing happened to me. firdt check all of your bulbs. and then the fuses. my problem was that the tail light wires that run to the tail light bulbs were bad (the wires looked burned with white stuff around it). go to auto zone or pepboys and get the double pin conectors and cut the old one out and put the new ones in. then change the fuses. and you should be done.
Re: happened to me tooo
i am gonna change the bulb and the fuse first and see how it goes.
i HOPE it's just the bulb...
are the clear corners on the same fuse as the tail lights and interior?

i changed the blown bulb and fuse and turned on the parking lights...
worked for a bit then blew the fuse again...
checked the bulbs...all are still good. i think i may have to rewire the fogs using the relay method!
any tips what else this might be? BTW: there was a 15A fuse in there already...

OK>>>>
this is my lighting setup as i see it.
Tail light fuse has these on it:
1. Corners...wire bridged so that it is always bright when parking lights are on (and not when just indicating).
2. Fog lights wired directly from corners, therefore comes on when parking lights are on.
3. And i guess the interior lights.
4. the fuse is 15A
is this too much load for this fuse or could be a short at the splice for the corners/fog etc.????
damn...

If it was a short it would blow the fuse immediately (unless its only shorts the wires when you move something)
hi all,
i have just exhausted my search on instructions to install foglights on a 93 GXE. it does not have the relay/wiring pre-installed, but i would do it if i had the instructions.
i would preferably like them to come on when i put my parking lights on. however, it seems that i will have to run a seperate switch if i have to do it thru the relays...
true?

no you dont need a seperate switch just hook it up where the power from the parking lights activate the relay.
Look on craigs site again and he explains how relays work and then use the wire you have tied into the fogs now as the activation for the relay...shouldnt be too difficult.
so,
the fog lamp relay up front should alrready be wired to the fog lamp fuse under the dash??? correct. and according to u, i should be able to connect the fogs' power to the relay and also a line from the corners to the relay to signal to the fogs to switch on.
my question is: by running that wire from the corners to the fog relay, will that in effect put the fogs on the same circuit again??
from craig's site it seems that the relay would not. it would signal another circuit to go on/off as the case maybe.
if it is that easy i am wondering why the kcuf the shop didn't wire it correctly the first time.
oh, what amperage relay shoud i buy?? i got bosch fog lamps.
thanks a million man!
