Damn Stinking Alarm, Flash you Bast@rd!

OK my alarm hasn't flashed the hazard lights in over several weeks now, when I push the lock button on my remote. It happened before but after a day or so it would work again. I tried replacing the relay in the trunk and it did nothing. About 5 days ago they worked for about 30 min and then that's it. Now when I sit in the car and hit the button I only hear one click, I think there are supposed to be 2 clicks. IS there another relay that could be fried? Or what else could it be? Thanks in advance. This is very frustrating.

can you still set your alarm off? mine was being weird and was not activating for a few days, but then i realized it was disarmed. mine's aftermartket btw, but inside, i have this button that is located near my cruise control that i had to hold in for 30 seconds or something like that and it reset or turned the alarm back on. i guess when i brought it to the shop, they turned it off, so it was only locking the doors instead of that plus the alarm. not sure if this will help you but it could be that. goodluck

I have the same problem. My hazard lights don`t flash when locking/unlocking - but they never did. All other Max I know do !
Has anyone an idea whats wrong. Does the BCM need to be programmed for this feature ? Or is it a fuse ?

My car is a Maxima QX (96)

Thanks for any ideas.

I had the same problem

I had the same problem....and my windows wouldn't roll down either. I just unplugged the positive cable from the battery before I went to bed. Woke up in the morning, plugged it back in, and everything worked fine. I don't know what the hell the problem was but try doing that. It worked for me.

Peace - Chad

You gotta check the connections to the alarm system unit thingy... i believe it's located in your trunk. I'm not sure, but a search on the ORG will verify. There must be a wire loose or bad... i guess just find the wires that controls the relay for the flashing. start w/ reciever for the FOB.

Re: Re: I had the same problem

I'll take a look. No clue what's going on with that thing. I think maybe the previous owner had a problem. Casue I noticed another relay connected or should I say spliced intot he wires going to the module in the trunk by the antena. And it doesn't really look like a factory install. Anybody confirm if they also have a relay spliced into the wires that go the alaram box in the trunk by the power antena? Thanks.

Will unplugging and then plugging the factory alarm unit int eh trunk by the antenna casue it to lose the codes for the remotes?

No it shoudln't; I've disconnected the battery many times and I have not had that problem.

not flashing

My hazard lights still don`t flash.
I have found the relay in the trunk, all connetions are well and when the alarm goes off the relay works - and the hazards flash. But when locking/unlocking, nothing happens. (my windows won`t go down with the remote either). Any ideas.

The next thing I gonna do is to rewire the relay and connect it directly to one of the power-lock motors. That should work.
Therefore I need to find the cable (the orange of the relay) in the front (under the dash). Has anyone an Idea where I can find ??? Because I don`t won`t to insatll an extra wire to the trunk.

Please help.

Thanks
Markus

A solution

I notice one day when i was putting in my speakers (Front door) and had my window switch unplugged from the door, that when i tried to close my doors using the remote the blinkers didn't flash, and mine had always flashed before. I've since found out that the stock oem alarm is connected to all your windows and door locks and will not work unless they are all plugged into the proper connectors...Thus, if all your windows work and your (Trunk release, and door locks) all work from the driver side console your screwed. No j/k but i really don't know what to tell you then except check for shorts in the door wiring. If all else fails and then i suggest the battery thing except take off the negative terminal...this will reset most of the cars electronics.
