i have a pair of pioneer 10" subs in a ported box w/ a 400 watt amp 1. is this a good choice? 2. how do i hook up the amp? do i need to change the ohms for it with some type of converter? what do i tap into? (i want to run this off my stock bose cd/tape deck) thanks

it'll be a good combination if you do everything correctly.

you're not gonna get the best sound if you still have the stock bose system in there.. you CAN buy adaptors to hook up amps to your bose system, but there just isn't much low bass in the bose system.. it'll still work, but if you were to get an aftermarket head unit and completely scrap the bose, you'd be better off.

that's the biggest problem with the bose- you can't upgrade it with aftermarket stuff without spending $$$$ on adaptors and having problems with poor sound. Bose really covered their @$$ on that one when they made a system nobody could interface with.

as for the impedance of what you're running, I'll need to know more info about it.. I'm assuming the pioneer subs are 4ohm each, but the amp is what really matters..

well the amp is a brand new jensen 4 channel 400 watt amp, i have a pair of 10" pioneer subs in a ported box and a MTX 12" in a sealed q logic box. the mtx is 4 ohms and im almost sure the 10s are too. i wass gonna give the 10s 100watts apiece and bridge to give the mtx 200. it has a built in crossover, but does any one know if i can put my own on? theirs no shut off switch for the crossover so if i did hook the xovers up would it hurt the amp? i can high input into the amp or x overs, so cant i just do that from the 6 by 9 s? ive tried this with a lower wattage amp and sub, and it sounded all right. any info would be helpful. thanks
