I would like to upgrade my rearview mirror and I was wondering (did a search with no good results) if anyone has installed the Donnelly auto dimming w/ compass and temp readouts in their Gen 4 Maximas?

The reasoning behind my questioning is that we Gen 4 owners have to remove a mirror that is attached to the headliner and replace it with one that mounts to the windshield glass.

Please let me know if anyone has done this and what you did in the place of the old mirror.

I did it. Quite easy, just snap off cover that hides bolts for the rearview mirror. Attach the Donelly to the Windscreen with supplied mounts and rearview mirror adhesive. Then replace the grey cover for the old mirror onto old mount with double sided tape.
I did it about 2 years ago so my memorey is kinda vague. I had no trouble though.
