just got it back from the shop. looks good. ive read it takes a little time to settle. i see and feel the difference already. handles good. i am very happy with it. just wanted to ask a question. i know i am supposed to get an alignment now. should i wait a while or do it a.s.a.p.? also, i have 18's on the car right now. when i do the alignment, should i take it with the stock tires? and the shop should tell me if i need a camber correction right? well i am gonna go cruise to the car wash now and then take some pics. thanks

 

shops might tell you they can't align the car with your rims on it...i know they can't get the thingamabobbers on my rims. also with eibach's you don't need a camber correction kit. i got mine aligned the same day i dropped it...

 

cool. thanks man. now i have another dilemna. now i hear a bad clanking sound when i go over big bumps. the sound only comes from the rear. the shop is closed now so i cant go back till tomorrow. i also have to wait for teh alignment tomorrow as well. any ideas about the clanking sound from the rear?

 

i had that as well. turned out to be two bolts on the strut tower weren't torqued to spec. the shop will probably double check it all for you

 

yup it is the torque specs i had the same problem.

 

what are the specs? also the brakes squeak a whole lot more in the rear since i got the install. could this have something to do with how they put the calipers back on? thanks for the help by the way.

 

You don't NEED the camber kit, but I would get it anyway...it's $25 from tire rack.

Most places I took my car to did not want to mess with it with it lowered, the shop that I finnaly got to do it says that the kit helped a lot.

 

Give the eibachs a couple weeks to settle. otherwise, you'll need to do the alignment again in a month or so when the springs finally break in and get to their final ride height.

don't even tell the shops the car's lowered. just tell them you got new struts. and put on your original wheels.

The shops around her will charge nearly double if they know the car is lowered, but if you don't say anything about it, they'll hardly know on the Eibachs.

 

If you are not going to tell them that it is lowered, make sure you go to a good shop. Because some places just calibrate off of stock ride height and screw your car up.

 

other than setting the toe and checking camber/caster, there's not a whole lot the shops can/will do anyway.
they CAN adjust the camber a bit, but unless it's way out of spc, most shops just tell you they can't do it.

As for whether it's lowered or not, that doens't change the alignment specs. the whole procedure is basically
1. check camber and do what you can to fix it, if necessary
2. line all the wheels up so they point straight forward
3. send it out the door.

 

Do as matt sugested, and make sure you specify FOUR WHEEL ALIGHNMENT, if they only charge you $30 then they probably only did a 2-wheel job, the cost should range $60-$70.

 

my brother says i should do the alignment a.s.a.p. so i wont mess up the tires. i just bought them and are brand new in the front. i dont want any uneven tire wear. so will it be allright to wait a week or two for the springs to settle. i do alot of driving, especially on the highway. so it would be safer to get an alignment now and another one in about a month or so, right? thanks for the replies, i appreciate the org's help.

 

do it a.s.a.p. new tires and you should take care of them.

You wont experience any crazy tire wear in only three weeks. I say dont worry about it and wait the two or three weeks. It would be a waste of money to do it twice. If there were any slight amount of uneven tire wear it would correct it self after the alignment and normal tire rotation.
