Anybody wanna buy 4....I mean 3 19" wheels?
I posted this a while ago, but to update, ADR has refused to replace that cracked wheel. They claim that is was caused my misuse based on the curb rash. I highly doubt that some minor curb damage would cause a spoke to crack.

Anyhow, I have three good wheels left- 2 of which have curb rash. I have taken them to a local machine shop for an estimate and they can be remachined for $90/each. You would have to buy the last wheel brand new. Whalen Tire has them for $300 brand new.
Does anyone want to come buy these from me locally in AZ? I will sell 3 19" rims for $150 if I don't have to ship them.
I will also post this up in the For Sale section as well. First $150 takes them If you want me to ship them to you, i will need to go buy big boxes, etc and it will not be worth it to me for $150. Any interest?

Things you would have to fix:
1. 3 new center caps. Right now there are no stickers on them. or you could just peel off the centercap sticker on the new wheel when you buy it.
2. Remachine the wheels: 2 of them desperately need it, the other one you could get away with not doing it- it has a very minor line on it that a 235 series tire would cover up I think. $90/each wheel for repairs
3. Buy a 4th wheel- $294
You are looking at an out of pocket cost of $500 to get rolling like new on these, plus whatever I charge you. The new package would cost you $1200.
Sorry to mislead you with $150. I have had a shiitty rotten day- OT- I destroyed all 4 of my new Maxxim wheels today and am taking them back to the shop tomorrow to hopefully get fixed- (Please don't ask- I am mortified about how it happened).
PM me if you are interested. But under advisement from my neighbor, who, unlike me, is in the proper state of mind, $150 is too low. Maybe $250? He suggested $350, but I think that is a bit much.
ANyone still interested? Plus I am getting the 4th one that was cracked back in the mail. If you are local, you can pick it up. The crack was a hairline crack, but I wonder if it could be fixed. I rode on it like that for 6 months with no problems.
Sorry for the confusion on the price. let me know! $250? HoMax? You interested still?
Hi - Are the wheels clearcoated or have paint on them ?? Reason I ask is they probaly can be welded up where the rash is Before the machining which would thin out the lip. Maybe even the cracked one can be welded after routing out. Then crack test by zyglo.Notice though that aluminum welding softens up the surrounding metal. Right back to 0 condition. Peening excess weld before machining might solve that. Reheat treating would not be practicle, and all the maching on yours was done AFTER it's heat treat. Also the weld shade of silver color might not match the raw wheel color(different alloys). An alloy material like 7075 or 2024 is NOT weldable though. You know what alloy your wheels are made of ?? When I'm not flying I'm in the aerospace industry - so doing this type of repair is easy and common for me. Your price up to $250 you say ?? I'm here in Phoenix. Al

Tell you what: If you can get back to me tonight or tomorrow morning with an answer about this, I have a great deal for you.
I screwed up my Maxxim alloys tonight. They are machined, but they have some sort of clearcoat over the machined part. Bottom line- the clear part is chipping away in the middle of the spoke because I scraped them on my garage floor. Is this an easy repair? The clearcoat is almost like a sticker and it is just torn off in some places. it is really weird. Will this require an entire remachining? Or just a new clearcoat or whatever that is??..
Here is my proposal. You fix my Maxxim wheels (in a relatively timely manner). You keep the ADR's. I give you the 4th ADR wheel when it gets here. You do whatever you want with them. You could probably fix them up like new and sell them to 2K1HoMax. Do you think you could handle the repair on my Maxxims?
Let me know ASAP...... I am taking the wheels into the shop tomorrow morning first thing to get repaired.
Hmmmmmm--- Sounds like you just need new clearcoat applied. No damage on the aluminum ?? Remachining the whole face of a wheel would require CNC lathe or the oldfashoned tracer lathe. That's more envolved. You could easily chemically strip the old clearcoat off and paint the clearcoat back on. Can't see any big hassle with that -- just have to get the right/expensive paint and good stripper. Course stripping is kind of dirty. Clearcoat thick ?? Whatever I'd have to see your wheel to see what it looks like. Live in N. Phoenix/ work in Central Phoenix/nights. Al

No damage to the aluminum- just the clearcoat. I am going to call the wheel shop tomorrow for ****ts and grins. If they try to rape me (which they will), I'll let you know. But if they can get it done for under $150 or so, then I am going to just have them do it.
OK--- Work is at 36th st and Airlane/ Develco-Derlan mfg/ NE corner after 5:30 PM.(N. of airport) Home is Central and Hatcher. If you want to stop by and bring the wheel I'll show you a BIG aerospace machine shop. I'm the night shift manager so no problem me showing you around. Just ask for AL. Don't think you can't just do touch up on it ?? Somewhere out there is exactly the paint you need. Otherwise if it needs some machining I'll just do it for the heck of it for a fellow .org member. Al

I think I'm just going to go get it done. I've about run out of patience with my hairbrained do-it-yourself jobs. I really, really appreciate the offer though.
My wheels are still for sale. Right now the list of people in line in order of location and timeliness are:
1. Y2K1HoMax (Pick them up or I can deliver)
2. AzHelipilot (Pick them up or I can deliver)
3. Tapwr3000 (plus shipping)
4. Carnagemaxima (plus shipping)
5. SweetSound2001 (plus shipping)
Fair price seems to be $250. I don't want to start a bidding war. That is not my goal. If i wanted to do that, I would put them on ebay. I figure you make out like a bandit at this price, I get them out of my garage, and it helps pay for the damages done to my current wheels.
If I don't hear back within 24 hours, I will move down the list. If you aren't interested after my corrective price hike, please let me know.
I will be taking pics tonight for sure.
Thanks again guys......
AZHelipilot- I NEED YOU!
I took my wheels down to the shop and they told me that they need to be completely remachined. They said they could do it for $125/wheel. Screw that. I paid $150 for each on brand new.
Can I meet you tonight??? If I don't hear from you, i will just swing by anyhow. Hopefully I can find it, although I have no idea where Airlane is.
If you can pull this off, I owe you big time. I will either give you Y2K1HoMax's $250, or give you the wheels myself, depending on what he decides.

Hi--- Airlane is 1st street N. of airport. Just S. of Washington. 401 S. 36th st. Drive in fenced parking lot to South side door. After 1st shift leaves I lock all the other doors except that one. Probaly one reason your place wants so much is that they have to made a lathe fixture to hold the wheel while cutting it. Couple of my tool maker guys are getting slow so now I'll have something for them to do. haha look forward to seeing you after 5:30. # there is 602-914-4601 AFTER 5:30 only for night shift. Al
