Fuzzy pillars and the pods that love them

On todays episode of Springer.....<crowd boo's the fuzzy pillar>

Do the 97 Maxima's have fuzzy pillars? I want to put a guage pod in my car, but I have found 2 dilemas...

1. I have fuzzy pillars
2. I have tweeters in my fuzzy pillars

So has anyone had experience with this? Having mismatched pillars and pods? Does this look ghey?

Also what do I do with my speakers? Do I just mount the pod above the speakers? or mount the speaker ON the pod? I hope someone understands this, I don't.

Pods or bust baby...

What exactly is a fuzzy pillar? Ive been wondering is this the outside B pillar that has that wierd black stuff on it, or inside it actually has carpet or something. Mine are plastic..

1995/1996 GLEs and all I30s have fuzzy pillars that are made out of the same stuff as the headliner.

I was just going to get a plastic SE A-pillar for my setup, but that's probably not an option for you. I'm also at a bit of a loss about the tweeter.

Sorry slc I30t, my only suggestion would be to lift non fuzzy pillars from a wreck. Doesn't solve the tweeter issue though. If I remember correctly, my 99 did not have the tweeters on the pillars, I can't remember where my 96 se tweeters were. If the guage pod cannot be mounted higher up on the pillar than the tweeter, then maybe a ~99 non fuzzy pillar swap and tweeter relocation is your only option.

Have you considered the guages in the dash below the stereo, where the little pull out is? Not as convenient, not as cool looking, but maybe a better option? Certainly less of a give away that something else is going on!

BTW, did you say you didn't like the fit too much of your one piecer headlights? Do I sense a discounted sale coming on?? You could bring em! Also, those cleared out tails you told me about, what about me trading mine (you can clear them out and sell them) and some cash for yours?? Maybe you could PM me. Wish you were going to have your car in SLC.....

BTW

i have never seen an i30 with tweeters there but my sister's pathfinder has what your're talking about, i seroisly doubt it's doable but just maybe. so what is in the hole in the door where the tweeters are supposed to be? why not just put them in the normal spot?

since they are already where they are supposed to be I wouldn't mind leaving them there. I had a Pathfinder and they were in the same spot as the 97 I30.

fst96se-Yeah I'm sure the 1 pieces are going to end up as a discounted item for sale in a little while, but I'm not ready to give them up yet. As far as the tails, I have a new set in the kitchen ready to be cleared out soon. I'll let you know about a little trade out. I will be flying out in July as well, so maybe I can bring some stuff out with me. Talk to you on sat.

As far as the fuzzy pillar issue, I'm thinking about using the little black direction tweeters that they sell at best buy and just mounting those on top of the pilar gauge and lifting a pillar (non fuzzy) for the other side as someone suggested.
