Buying tires- Drag radials or ultra high performance? 2k2

The Tire Rack has an excellent deal going on 17X7.5 Kosei K1s for $129 and they only weight around 18 lbs. I am trying to decide whether or not I should get the BFG Drag Radials or some 235/45 ultra high performance street tires such as the Sumitomo HTRZII's. I have to drive about an hour to the nearest 1/4 mile track and I need some input as to whether or not the drag radials will hold up. I really don't want to have to worry with swapping out wheels before leaving the track.

i have nitto 555r drag radials. treadwear is 100 they hold up fine on long trips everyonce in a while but everyday driving i would wear them out in a month. a few long trips shouldnt get too bad but for everyday driving dont do it!

only tried them once and the 60' times were worse than with street tires! HLSD would benefit greatly from drag radials but since i got the open differential the one tire that got hot stuck and the other spun! i am going to play around with the tires and see! i also need different rims to mount them on. i had 245/45/17 Nitto 555r drag radials mounted on stock 7" rims! dont come say anything y2kse i know!

I have bfg drag radials for my mustang when I take it to the track (put them on at the track). They wear very very very quickly. I run Nitto drag radials on the street. I have had them on for 4000 miles and no wear to speak of. I have heard of people getting 15k miles out of them. I hear the BFG are useless after 2k miles.

My best 60ft time with bfg's is 1.79, with the nitto's 1.91 (all on mustang, 2.3's with my maxima and street tires). To be fair, I did not heat the nitto's up nearly as much as I did with the bfg's, if I had, they would probably be closer.
