2000 Max (buy or not to buy) Please Read

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I was looking at a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE with the comfort package. It has leather interior, just loaded and sweet. The only thing is that it has 61,000 miles on it already. They are asking $19,995. What do you think I can bring them down too? Another question, I was wondering if there are any major problems that will occur after having this many miles. Please any information, comments is greatly appreciated. I can't wait to join the club!

That is way too much for those miles. I will sell you mine for that, and it only has 31,000 miles.

TOO MUCH $$$. You should be looking to spend more like 16-17K. I sold me 2K SE with 20K miles for $20,000!

That is high, go to edmunds.com and price it.

May I suggest you try and buy a used 2K2, they are cheaper now that the 2K3's have come out.

If you can come up with a little bit more money, I was quoted $23K for a new 2002 Maxima SE Automatic from carsdirect.com just this week... It doesnt have any extra features like leather, but you could rest assured knowing it would have no miles on it versus 60,000+ miles.

Personally, I'd rather buy new for a bit more (and get the extra horse power too!)

I paid 18,500 last June for my loaded 00' SE, and it only had 10k miles on it. Search for another car, or buy that one for 14-15k max.

No way. I paid $17,800 for mine with 20K- LOADED. That is insane. Don't buy it. I wouldn't pay $15,000 for it. That car will sit on the market forever.

That's one sweet thing about the VQ, the more miles you put on it, the better and smoother it runs. It's not uncommon to see people on the org with 3rd or 4th gen Maximas with well over 200,000 miles on their cars.

Dang, I think you might be looking at the car I just traded in. Your not in South Georgia by any chance?

Anyway, that sounds like too much. I traded in a car exactly like you just described last month for $15,300. Don't let them make that much profit off of you!

$19995???? i paid $16000 for mine with c&c, bose (no leather) and 33k miles.
if you still want the car, i'd negotiate way down but also make sure that he/she has all service maintenance records since the mileage is so high. or at the very least, get a pre-purchase diagnostic from a trusty mechanic.
