smell gas under hood affecting mpg

I get crappy gas mileage to start with but the other day when I had the car on I lifted up thew hood and can smell gas. I know that means I might have a leak somewhere. can you guys tell me what to check for example, filter, lines, etc.,

injectors possibly, they might leak but it is very rare they do. Just check the filter and lines like you said.

the car is running fairly good I had the max for 2 years now. I checked again and I still smelled gas a little while the car was on. What are the possibilties.

damn thats kind of strange, my dad has 1988 Plymouth sundance and the car has no problem, but when u drive the car, u will start to smell something from the engine and the car has been running good for two years without any problem and in that car my dad never does any maintance except oil change and the car has 78,000 miles on it..

Could be your carbon canister. Its job is to capture excess gas vapors from your fuel tank. When they go bad (not often but it does happen) they will allow the vapors to escape unfiltered and you will smell the odor of gasoline under your hood. Good luck!
