Unpleasant pricing suprise at Nissan Parts

I had a fender bender in my 2000 SE last week, including damaging the right headlight. Got the insurance company to agree to replace the headlight with the 2001 AE headlight, since they are the same price as the regular 2000 headlights. I would then pay for the left AE headlight myself-half price AE lights this way. I priced the AE's at the local Nissan dealer last Wednesday, June 12th, was quoted $135 list for the left one. Called the repair shop on Thursday and told them to go ahead and replace both. They waited until yesterday, the 18th, to order them. When the invoice came in, the list price was shown as $201.32 EACH. Talking to the local Nissan dealer, it seems that Nissan had price increases that were effective on Monday the 17th. On this part approx 50%!!!! All parts did not increase as much as this, but a general across the board price increase. Just wanted to warn everyone. Looks like Nissan is looking to improve their income statement even more in the next quarter.

That's a real bummer my man. I'm getting ready to put a set of AE headlights on sale too...would have hooked you up for a bit under the old price.

At 200 a side he really got gouged, I feel bad for him.

If you haven't payed the balance yet it's worth a shot to try and get them to give you 25% off. A lot of times the Nissan parts guys will do 25%.

I just bought the AE Engine cover from DaveB. He charged me almost 50% less than what 2 other "highly recommended" dealers wanted. Can't wait for it to get here!!!!!!

I will never, ever, ever buy a part for my car from anyone else ever again. The few days for shipping is nothing compared to the service and pricing you get from DaveB.
