"Shifter"?

You mean the entire tranny? Or just the stick itself?

You'd probably have to see both console torn apart to figure out if there was even a way to make room for it. Also, we have the OD Off button where as they have another slot.

What is your guess based on? This is an interesting question.
Has anyone seen both consoles apart to give an educated answer?

mine is too

i would see why wouldn't it work cuz we could just wire the od to another switch and not have the D3 not used

I would have to imagine the cable link would be a problem.

i made this same thread months ago and no one responded! i was in a junkyard and saw one that looked really nice from a 5th generation...looked like chrome and just really caught my eye. i was thinking of going back there to measure it just to see if the parts would fit but haven't gotten to it. hopefully someone knows about this.

can someone measure that part on their 5th gen auto? or trace it or something and then scan it so we can compare? that seems easy enough...

Would it be worth it?

Let's discuss shall we class?

4th gen, take apart the shifter console and look at it. The shifter moves back and forth in a straight line.

2k2 shifter is gated, no? Does not move in a straight line back and forth.

So just speaking mechanically, it's already a problem.

So you're going to spend god knows how much money just for a shifter console when you can spend that money for something that will actually make the car run better/faster?

Well ... some people are more into looks than speed. Fine. I'm guessing putting a 2k2 shifter into a 4th gen ain't a $50 job. Spend the money on a paint job, some neons or even some custom altezzas.

2k2 shifter in a 4th gen ain't worth it and ain't gonna happen.

Common sense owns you all.

some gated shifter do move back and forth its just that they have like a ballandsock type deal where it can move left and right as well as back and forth

Unless you've actually taken the consoles apart, your theory doesn't mean too much. I hate it when people shoot down ideas without doing the homework. Does anyone have a factory service manual for both cars where we can see the console assembly? Let's get the facts and then decide what is involved and if it is worth it.

The entire shifter assembly would have to be replaced.

The question is fitting it under our console, mounting it, and working around the OD off. Also, you don't know if the cable movement is different. You might be shifting more or less then is supposed to, which could be a serious problem.

If you wan't to find out if it works, you gonna need a good friend with a 2K2 or a junk yard. Everything else is just speculation.

2k2 Gated Shifter

4th Gen shifter

Another angle( thanks clee!)

I really dont think this would work, seeing as clee has already pretty much explained the difference between them being gated and not in a straight line and being standard and in a complete straight line...

BTW, The linkage would also be a problem since it would have to travel a bit more and in an odd array of motions to get around the gates,,

how about the 2000 or 2001, are those gated like that? or are they straight through shifts like the 4th? i thought when i saw one in the junkyard it looked like it was just a straight line shift but i don't remember, anyone have pics of those years?

thanx for posting that one though and proving that point. now to see about the others...

btw, that is a crazy looking shift ****. i've never seen that one before, does anyone know how much those go for and where to look for them?

I doubt anyone has bothered to spend the time and/or money to find out if the 00-01 shifter fits into a 4th gen.

BTW, that auto shift **** is clee's. Ask him

Doubt the 5th gen shifter console with fit either. Still not worth it in my opinion. And what do you want to know about the Razo?
