Painting the Engine....

I am painting the plastic piece that covers either injectors or other engine management controls. Its the piece that says NISSAN V6 3000. I painted it red and I am wanting the raised letters to be white. I have had terrible luck in painting the letters.

Does anyone have suggestions on how one may paint such letters without too much prep work? Any information or suggestions will be used and appreciated to the fullest. Thanks.

Dude its all in the prep work.

Use vinal tape to cover them and then cut away the excess. Or just paint the whole thing red then brush paint the letters (Harder IMO)

your question is the same as "i want to paint my car but dont want to cover the windows" Its all in the prep work...

At this point I would say it's easier to sand the paint off of the letters (back down to the plastic).

I painted my whole thing, sanded down the letters and used a sharpie to paint them in. Came out looking fine. Sharpies rule. I've heard someone mention; putting vaseline on the letters and then painting the cover. The vaseline will keep the paint from adhering where you don't want it. This would be easier than taping off the letters (I tried this at first but it's a 8itch). However, I would think the vaseline would make a mess to remove? Good luck.
