Why do people interject crap into race stories?

ie.. someone posts "I raced an older M5 and it was fairly close....." blah, blah Or my favorite.."I raced an older 5.0 Mustang and he lost......"

I can gurantee you someone pipes in with their typical spewage..."IF YOU WOULD HAVE RACED THE 2 MILLION HP VERSION OF THAT CAR, YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLLED BY 500 YARDS BY 60MPH!!!!! MY BOY HAS ONE AND IT'S FAAAASSSSTT!!"

Well folks, they DIDN'T race the 2 million hp version of that car and no the DIDN'T race your boy with a totally different vehicle than the one mentioned in the orginal race story. sheesh folks

i have been waiting for someone to say something for a while! if someone gets on here and says that he beat something dont go off and say well my old car could runs 9s in 1/4 there is no way u could beat that! im almost positive peeps dont sit around all day and make up stories about races that they didnt have. the bottom line is if i race a ferreri F50 and he stalls out off the line, misses every gear and i barely beat him than i BEAT THE DRIVER OF THE CAR! not the car. there r so many people out there than have nice cars but cant drive em for ****. i bet peeps on this board r the same way. when i got my car the only thing i was concerned with was shifting fast and accurate everytime. i could shift fast as hell but when it came to normal driving it was jerky bc i never cared about that. now its fine both ways and i am only getting better. WHEN U RACE A CAR THE CAR CAN ONLY PERFORM AS GOOD AS THE DRIVER.

I second that.....I have heard enough about on-line forum racing....talking about HP over that HP......talking about "you will never have a chance to beat this car on turns, b/c this car will out perform your car on handling" blah blah

if everyone is going to compare for HP....and is not going to consider other factors....then I will like to introduce our future, 100% safe, street racing.

1.dyno ur car
2.have a professional driver do a 1/4 for u
3.post 1 and 2 on ur windows
4.everytime when two cars are about to race...just roll up ur window and show the number! yea! just like playing pokemon cards!

Maybe I'm the one missing the point...but somehow I think everybody is missing what Jeff was trying to say here.

It isn't about internet racing...it is about me telling everybody that beat a broken down 1957 Corvette and you responding and telling me that, "Oh yeah, well you couldn't beat a C5," as if that had anything to do with my win story.

I beat a plain 99 TL in my 94, but if it had been the Type S with the 6-speed conversion I would have been blown away. On the other hand, if Russ had been driving the plain TL.....

Yeah, but if it had been a NEW race story, you wouldn't have been able to skip it! My friend has a new story and I'd bet you'd have to read it!!
