Any aftermarket intake is going to be a lot louder than the stock one. The Dragon will probably be as loud as the PR/WSP CAI's because of the long tubing used. I have a WSP CAI and love the sound. Loud as s--t at WOT. It sure sounds faster...

If you don't mind the limited color selection, deffinetely go with a frankencar intake. They are alot cheaper for basicaly the same thing.

Performance Racing? Do you mean Place Racing or Warpspeed Performance? Either one is great and they are nearly identical so I would save some cash (enough for a FSTB) and get the Warpspeed. I did and have absolutely no regrets.

The Warpspeed CAI is $155 plus shipping with a K&N filter and the Place Racing CAI is a little over $200 depending on color and comes with a Monster Flow filter.

Lots of people including myself feel that the Warpspeed CAI is the best value.

Yes you will have to cut a hole for the lower tube to go through but it really isn't a big deal. I don't think I would call it "cutting the car up". you can't see the hole after installation and you are careful there will be no damage. I painted the edge of the hole and used silicone to seal the gasket before putting the lower tube on. Worked great.

theres been a thread around here about the injen intake too and you dont have to drill any holes, i think only maxspeed has it. if anyone else has praise or potshots, lets hear em. i dont really care about which one. im in the market too, but im still not sure about drillin holes in my fender.

I saw from your profile that you have the K&N filter. You can just pick up the Frankencar midepipe for $55 and call it a day. Mine should be arriving today. Are you auto? If so, you should go with the hybrid setup which will give you power in the low and high end. The Frankencar midpipe and your K&N filter will constitute that hybrid.
